Ranking all the Resident Evil Sidekick Characters

Who was the best one?

This article is going to be based on the Resident Evil games I have played, such as Resident Evil 5 and 6, the remakes of Resident Evil 3 and 4, including the second Revelations game. I'm sad how so many of these random sidekicks never got more screen time, but I guess that is the beauty of the Resident Evil franchise. Sometimes we get super cool characters only once, but man, they do stay with you for a long time!

And there are also some that kind of pissed me off, but at least they had redeeming qualities that made the characters entertaining.

Except for one character, that is officially on the list for pissing me off the most.

8. Resident Evil 6: Helena Harper

Helena Harper is by far the worst one. She refused to tell Leon about vital information she was hiding from him, when it came to trying to save a random woman that was connected to the outbreak. This woman turned out to be her sister, who had been experimented on by the main villain during Leon's campaign, known as Simmons.

She kept on telling Leon that she would tell him everything later, and how Leon didn't lose his patience with her was admirable. I would have confronted her about everything immediately without hesitation, because if I'm going to go on a wild goose chase to save a woman in an infected city, I better know all the damn details up front.

7. Resident Evil Revelations 2: Moria Burton

I think the reason why I liked playing Moira's character, was the fact that she was so hopeless compared to Claire Redfield who had experience with outbreaks. I played Moira, while my sibling played Claire, since she is a better shot than me when it comes to videogames. We had way too much fun using our skills to work together, and it was one of my favorite experiences playing a Resident Evil game.

Moira's character was pretty reliable, and it made sense why she was so brave, since she was the daughter of Barry Burton. Her bond with Claire was awesome, and I liked how we got two female protagonists in a Resident Evil game for the first time!

6. Resident Evil 6: Jake Wesker

If it hadn't been for Jake's cute slow burn romance with Sherry, I don't think his character would have been cool. It does get so annoying how franchises like to bring children from the main villains into the franchise to somehow build up conflict. Jake's character was a pawn for Chris Redfield, who had major beef with his father.

Jake's character sold me once he formed a close connection with Sherry, another survivor from the beginning of Resident Evil. It was awesome to see her get involved with the agency, and I loved how she refused to see Jake as an enemy. Her kind heart made him open up to her, and I loved how he went from a douchebag who wanted millions of dollars for his service, to $50 toward the end of the game.

This was another bold move from the Resident Evil franchise, having a slow burn romance as our two main protagonists!

5. Resident Evil 3 Remake: Carlos Oliveria

I'm so mad that we will possibly never get more screentime with Carlos Oliveria. He was your typical airhead that liked to crack jokes during a zombie apocalypse, while being a total badass while taking on hordes of the dead. I loved his chemistry with Jill Valentine, and I found myself really wanting the two of them to be together.

It was so obvious he had a thing for her, and his loyalty to her character was so awesome, dude put himself in crazy situations to save her life. I would love to see Carlos in another Resident Evil game, but I think his screentime is over, but at least we got one of the best memorable characters in the franchise!

4. Resident Evil 4 remake: Ashley Graham

While Leon Kennedy was so awesome in this remake, Ashley was truly the heart of this remake. Her kind nature in a terrifying world of evil and the dead made her really stand out in this game. She was so scared, but she refused to leave Leon's side, determined to help him in any way, while trying to survive this dark world she was forcibly brought to.

How she was able to stand up to hilarious and creepy villains while running away from dead knights was incredible. I saw her relationship with Leon as kind of like a brother and sister bond, and it was really sweet how much she trusted him. (From what I heard about the original Resident Evil 4, Ashley was the complete opposite of her counterpart in the remake).

3. Resident Evil 4 remake: Luis Serra

Luis Serra was such an entertaining character. He was a badass warrior, was secretly working with Ada on the side, and even though he was involved in bad stuff, he was still willing to help Leon and Ashley. There was a good heart in Luis, and I was so glad that I was wrong with his character possibly backstabbing Leon at some point.

He literally was stabbed in the back by a random villain that I did not see coming, and I actually shed a tear when Luis died. I was so upset when his character kicked the bucket, I will never forget the number of times I died of laughter when Luis was getting attacked by zombies with a shovel. Dude kept me so entertained in so many ways during my two playthroughs!

2. Resident Evil 6: Piers Nivans

Piers Nivans is one of my favorite sidekick characters in Resident Evil. I felt like we really get a total understanding of his character from both the game, and a manga series that is about a separate journey that Chris Redfield is caught in. While I felt that the villain was kind of odd for the manga series, we really get to know Piers as a character. He had developed a powerful/romantic connection with a woman from the agency, that unfortunately gets killed during the final battle.

It made sense why Piers was always so positive when it came to Chris, determined to make him snap out of his depression when it came to his failed attempts at saving his soldiers. After what Piers had endured in the past, he wanted to keep on fighting, no matter what. It was so tragic to see his character get killed at the end of the Resident Evil 6 campaign, but his death made sense to the story of Chris.

He needed to die for Chris to finally move on, and now, Piers would finally get to reunite with the woman that he deeply cared for.

1. Resident Evil 5: Sheva Alomar

Credit to Just a moment…

Sheva Alomar is hands down the best sidekick in Resident Evil history. She is a badass through and through, and I loved how loyal she was to Chris Redfield in Resident Evil 5. Sheva was a major team player, and fought alongside Chris without any hesitation, willing to take on any kind of threat with him. Hell, she was willing to fight Chris' archrival, Albert Wesker, who he wanted to kill for the 'alleged death' of Jill Valentine.

Jill is later thankfully revealed to be alive later in the game, and Sheva offers her comfort as Chris is happy to reunite with the partner that he lost. It's a massive disappointment that Capcom hasn't brought Sheva back somehow. She is the perfect addition to the franchise of Resident Evil, and I really hope that we get another glimpse of this badass woman again.

I know for sure we are going to reunite with her in the Resident Evil 5 remake, but man, Sheva 100% deserves to come back. Chris and Sheva were the first characters that introduced me to the franchise of Resident Evil, and for that reason, these two will always hold a special place in my heart.

Which sidekick characters are your favorite from the Resident Evil franchise?
