Hunter x Hunter Power Rankings

Every major character ranked from weakest to strongest, based only on on-screen power

By Top RankedPublished about 17 hours ago 6 min read

The world of Hunter × Hunter isn’t about straightforward battles — it’s about strategy, skill, and the endless pursuit of personal growth and survival. Strength alone rarely wins; clever tactics, Nen mastery, and adaptability often decide who lives, who dies, and who rises above the rest. Some characters rely on raw power, others on intelligence, precision, or complex abilities — but only a select few operate on a level that makes them untouchable in combat.

This list ranks the major characters from weakest to strongest based solely on what we’ve seen in the anime. No manga feats. No hype. No morality points. Just raw combat potential, Nen skill, and who would realistically dominate when the fight truly begins.

41. Zushi

Zushi’s a hardworking prodigy in the early arcs, but ultimately gets sidelined. While he shows basic Nen control and promise under Wing’s tutelage, he never comes close to the higher tiers of fighters we see later in the series.

40. Leorio Paradinight

While iconic and lovable, Leorio doesn’t show much combat ability in the anime. His one major Nen moment is the long-distance punch during the Election Arc, which is impressive — but far from enough to compete with real fighters.

39. Pokkle

Pokkle has respectable Nen fundamentals, including an arrow-based emission ability. But he’s ultimately used as a benchmark to show just how terrifying the Chimera Ants are. He’s smart, but outclassed.

38. Gido

A spinning top-based emitter, Gido gave Gon a tough time in Heavens Arena — but his limitations became clear quickly. He’s crafty, but not powerful by comparison to most serious Nen users.

37. Riehlvelt

His electric chair-style Nen tricks and remote attacks are creative, but ultimately ineffective against anyone who doesn’t fall for them. A Heavens Arena mid-boss, and not much more.

36. Rammot

As an early Chimera Ant enforcer, Rammot feels dangerous — until Killua awakens his potential. His lack of Nen understanding and arrogance hold him back. He’s a mid-tier threat at best.

35. Gotoh

As a bodyguard, Gotoh is skilled and loyal, and his coin-based attacks have speed and precision. But his fight with Hisoka exposed the limitations of his style. He’s good — just not that good.

34. Kalluto Zoldyck

Kalluto’s paper manipulation is deadly in the right context, and his stealth is elite-tier. But he lacks large-scale feats and still seems to be developing his abilities. Potentially scary — not there yet.

33. Hanzo

Hanzo has the skills of a trained assassin, impressive speed, and excellent hand-to-hand combat. He doesn’t rely on Nen too much, and while effective, his ceiling feels lower than others who have more polished Nen techniques.

32. Shalnark

His phone-based manipulation is niche but effective. As a member of the Phantom Troupe, he’s no slouch — but he often plays support rather than front-line enforcer. His autopilot mode is his main claim to fame.

31. Machi

Her thread-based abilities are some of the most useful in the Troupe, especially for healing and tracking. She’s also shown she can take hits and still keep fighting. Solid, but doesn’t dominate fights.

30. Shizuku

A vacuum for a weapon shouldn’t work, but somehow does. Shizuku is unpredictable and useful, but not very strong in direct combat. Still, she can handle weaker Nen users easily and offers great utility.

29. Bonolenov

Weird and oddly fascinating, Bonolenov’s musical-body combat style makes him one of the more unusual Troupe members. His planetary war dance attack is powerful, but he lacks versatility and durability.

28. Cheetu

Speed alone doesn’t equal power. Cheetu is incredibly fast — faster than most characters can track — but lacks strategy and composure. He dies because he underestimates everyone, every time.

27. Zazan

Zazan’s brute strength, transformation ability, and regeneration gave Feitan a decent challenge. But her lack of Nen technique and predictability left her wide open once Feitan stopped toying with her.

26. Palm Siberia

Once transformed, Palm has elite stealth and decent durability. Her tracking ability makes her uniquely useful, and she nearly overwhelmed Killua. Emotionally unstable, but dangerous in the right conditions.

25. Franklin Bordeau

Franklin’s aura bullets are devastating in the right setting, and his aura pool is clearly huge. He’s a heavy hitter in group combat — reliable muscle with good Nen fundamentals.

24. Nobunaga Hazama

Master of close-quarters swordsmanship with solid reaction speed. His Nen ability is unknown, but his confidence speaks volumes. Likely stronger than his feats suggest.

23. Phinks Magcub

Brute strength with a wind-up that multiplies power. He claims to be the Troupe’s strongest physically. With more screen time, he might rank even higher.

22. Genthru

His Little Flower and Countdown abilities were lethal enough to take on seasoned Hunters. Cold, strategic, and efficient with his Nen — underestimated villain.

21. Kastro

His battle with Hisoka proves he’s no joke. His double clone ability is high-risk, high-reward, and almost worked. Lack of mental clarity cost him dearly.

20. Shoot McMahon

His portal-based dismemberment ability is brutal, but he holds himself back. Strong enough to stall Youpi, but not strong enough to last. Better than most — not elite.

19. Gon Freecss

Base Gon has great raw strength and Nen growth. His potential is sky-high, but until the Adult Gon transformation (which is excluded here), he’s still developing.

18. Knuckle Bine

One of the smartest abilities in the show. APR is devastating over time. Knuckle isn’t the strongest physically, but he’s battle-smart and dangerous in drawn-out fights.

17. Illumi Zoldyck

Manipulation is Illumi’s bread and butter. He controls others with ease and keeps enemies psychologically off-balance. Silent, creepy, and always watching.

16. Morel Mackernasey

One of the most tactical Nen users in the series. Deep Purple lets him dominate the battlefield. He may not be the strongest physically, but he’s hard to beat in a war of attrition.

15. Feitan Portor

Pain Packer is one of the most terrifying abilities in the Troupe. The more you hurt him, the more you suffer. Rising Sun is pure carnage.

14. Uvogin

A walking tank. Uvogin’s raw power and durability are absurd — he eats rocket launchers and punches heads clean off. Basic Nen, but executed flawlessly.

13. Kurapika Kurta

With Emperor Time, Kurapika becomes an anti-Troupe monster. Chain Jail is unbeatable against spiders. Outside that, he’s still precise, fast, and ruthlessly intelligent.

12. Killua Zoldyck

Speed, intellect, and Godspeed. Killua is deadly when serious. His lightning aura closes the gap against stronger foes — he just lacks high-level finishers.

11. Biscuit Krueger

Her true form is monstrous. Bisky has elite strength, combat IQ, and Nen understanding. She’s a master — plain and simple.

10. Hisoka Morow

Bungee Gum. Texture Surprise. Insanity. Hisoka’s creativity makes him unpredictable in battle. Whether he wins or loses, he makes it hell for his opponent.

9. Kite

With Crazy Slots, Kite is dangerous no matter what weapon he pulls. He holds his own against Pitou, which speaks volumes. A true pro.

8. Zeno Zoldyck

Old man strength. His aura dragons, mobility, and experience make him deadly even in support roles. He’s surgical with his Nen.

7. Silva Zoldyck

Silva is raw power incarnate, and his aura blasts are devastating. Calm, calculated, and ruthless.

6. Chrollo Lucilfer

The ultimate tactician. With enough prep, Chrollo can beat almost anyone. His Nen book gives him insane versatility, and he’s proven lethal even without full prep time.

5. Shaiapouf

A psychological and strategic master. His cloning, scales, and Nen finesse make him a nightmare to face. Hard to kill, hard to predict.

4. Menthuthuyoupi

Raw, evolving power. Youpi goes from a rage monster to a strategic beast. It takes multiple Hunters to even slow him down. Scary efficient.

3. Neferpitou

The Royal Guard with monstrous aura, reflexes, and healing. Pitou is easily one of the most overwhelming presences in the anime.

2. Isaac Netero

Centuries of training culminate in one of the most beautiful and devastating Nen abilities ever animated. Netero is pure discipline — with a nuke as a backup.

1. Meruem

No surprises here. The King stands alone. He evolves mid-battle, adapts instantly, and overwhelms everyone. Untouchable in power, intellect, and presence. The peak of Hunter x Hunter.
