Evening had begun to settle over the small police checkpoint. A cold breeze moved through the quiet street as officers carried on with their routine duties. Vehicles were being checked, pedestrians questioned — nothing unusual.

“Sir… my wife gets angry at me all the time. She’s very strict… but she’s terrified of this red bug. I kept it to scare her as a joke…”

The room went silent.

“You created all this trouble… for a bug?” the inspector asked, stunned.

The man lowered his head.

“I was scared you would crush it… that’s why I didn’t give it.”

The inspector rubbed his forehead. What they had imagined to be drugs, treasure, or a secret crime was nothing more than a harmless domestic prank.

Chapter 6: The Lesson

A few moments later, soft laughter spread through the room. Some officers were still shocked at how such a small thing had created such a big situation.

The inspector sighed.

“Suspicion can be more dangerous than reality,” he said.

The traveler was warned and released. He apologized repeatedly as he left, clearly realizing how a small act could turn into a major incident.

For the officers, the event became a story they would remember for years. Whenever a strange item was found during a search, someone would smile and say:

“Hope it’s not another red bug.”

And the room would fill with laughter.
