Success in life is most often equated with how much money you have in your bank account. And so if you have a consistent amount of money, you and probably a few close acquaintances know how much it is.

And while other people outside your close knit circle have no inkling how much you have, the presence of physical properties that you possess which people see, speaks to people about your status as a rich or wealthy person.

Those flashy cars that are lined up in the garage. The mansions, the yachts, the private jet etc. These are the physical representations of how far you’ve come from perhaps a humble beginning, to a place where life is now smiling at you.

Because behind all this wealth and riches, there is probably a not so pleasant story. This is a story of a struggle, of how much went on behind the scenes, in the life of an individual.

Like a three part story, there’s always the starting point or origin. And most often, it goes like this. Parents are poor, there’s barely enough food to eat. A modest house with little to no heating when it gets cold in winter.

But parents are hard working, struggling everyday, to make ends meet. There are days when they are challenged to almost give up. Because no matter how hard they try, life is not improving.

All this is happening right before your very eyes. And that builds in you something that molds your character. That’s when you decide that no matter your circumstances, you’re going to do something to change the situation.

You want a better life, and better things.

And then you go through one experience after another. Some good, some bad, and some humiliating. But the most indelible experiences that really touch you, are the ones where family, friends, close partners disappear, or are not supportive, when you need them the most.

And then the breakthrough happens and finally, you come to a point where you’ve made it. You have the money, the flashy cars, the mansions, etc.

Now it’s time to tell your story, if and when you’re called upon to do so. The public wants to hear about it, how you made it. Already the rumors are circulating and people are trying to figure out, the source of your wealth.

All successful people have a story.

And 90% of the time, it’s a humble story of beginnings that were tough. It’s a story that validates how much you’ve sacrificed to become who you are today, and how far you have arrived.

And it sells!

That is because you went through a learning curve, that was harder than life itself which in the end, proved one thing. That with hard work and persistence, in times when you felt like giving up, you could rise above all odds and become successful.

This story always sells

Not many stories capture the human heart like humble origin stories. The emotional impact it displays is heart felt. Tears become instantly visible, heads are slowing shaking and smiles are absent.

It simply works to move an audience to your cause. And perhaps that’s why it is probably one of the stories that resonates most with making money online.

It is used to promote the idea of success in the online world, as being achieved through hard work, resilience and persistence. Like the dating advisor who tells the story of how awful he was in bed.

This inexperience led to his girlfriend dumping him for his best friend. She walked right before his very eyes, out of their home, and drove off with his best friend.

This one experience led him to take action and do something to change his situation. It’s the same with the average guy who lives paycheck to paycheck.

With overdue bills, debts piling up and constantly broke, they stumble upon an online money making program, tried it and now they’re debt-free!

This is the power that humble origin stories have on the human emotion. You cannot listen or read about such stories, and not feel a sense of pity for the individual who overcame such odds to succeed.

The question is, why does it sell so well? Here are the most likely reasons why.

1-It is easily accepted

Humble origins stories sell quite well because, they act like a blueprint for success, which is easily accepted by a large majority of the people. They easily validate people’s expectation of how much, hard work pays off.

2-It easily validates richness

Humble origins stories easily validates being rich and wealthy. It is the genuine proof that real success comes through struggles, setbacks, mistakes made in the past, and the hard lessons learned from such experiences.

It tells others that, “I deserve what I have, because I went through a lot just to be where I am.”

3-It is an inspiration

One person’s humble origins story of how they sailed through life to make it, is an inspiration to others. It offers a valid proof that if they can do it, then someone else in such similar condition, can sail through the difficulties, and become equally successful, too.

4-It is universal

Success is not restricted to one particular geographical area or culture. Everyone the world over, views success in the same way to mean, rising above one’s circumstances to achieving greatness in whatever they choose as their chosen field of endeavor.

5-A sense of Reward

Whenever an athlete is successful in any sports competition, they owe it to how much work they’ve put in, and the difficulties they had to sail through to win.

The reward for so much hard work, is the athlete winning the competition and picking up the gold medal and also monetary reward.

Humble origin stories carry a sense of reward that is not focused on the present, but the future. This is a future where all the obstacles, the struggles and the setbacks of the past, will give way to a bright and prosperous life.

When people hear such stories, they are automatically inclined to believe that the individual who has attained success, merits being rewarded with the wealth and riches that they currently have.

This belief leaves out the fact that being rich and wealthy can also mean, becoming a billionaire, coming from a wealthy family. This way of looking at success doesn’t instill hope and inspiration in those who believe that success only comes through struggles and a lot of hard work.
