1978 DREAM BLUES
MY DREAM OF 2026, I REMEMBER
The studio light is still burning at midnight in Riverside. I have spent the evening bridging the gap between a 1978 journalism newsroom and the digital soul of 2026.
The "Executive Producer" is already on her ladder, giving me the side-eye for staying up this late, but the 4K render is finally complete. We have gritty Janis-style vocals, the clack of an old IBM typewriter, and a flight into the cosmos that you must see to believe.
I am hitting publish on Vocal tonight, and it will be hitting YouTube for the official world premiere tomorrow morning.
Stay tuned—the fire started in '78, and we are still in control.
Goodnight from the Outstages Cafe Art Studio.

1978 Dream Blues
(Slow, gritty Delta blues rhythm with a sharp slide guitar intro)
Verse 1
I was burning that candle, baby, fire at both ends
Nursing books, Journalism classes, and business dreams, making ‘em my friends
Janis on the Wards machine, singing ‘bout a piece of heart
I was living in a 1970s dream, just waiting for the future to start.
Chorus
Oh, I had the 1978 Blues, but the good kind of low
Breaking out of those society chains, nowhere to go but go
From Selectric keys to a digital mind, I saw the light through the haze
Stepping into a dream of AI, in those liberated days.
Verse 2
A dude came around with a velvet line, talking ‘bout a silver tongue
Said, "Leave those long-hair musicians, girl, while you’re still young"
But I had Kristofferson on the platter, and freedom in my head
I kept my musicians and my library books and took the dream instead.

Verse 3
That IBM was a heavy load, clacking like a ghost in the room
I wanted to throw that iron away and sweep out the old-world gloom
I was chatting with the future AI, way back in 78’ & '79
A college girl with a vision, drawing a brand-new line.
Bridge (Music shifts to a lighter, up-tempo shuffle—Sweetie’s cue)
Now it is 2026, and the muse has yellow and blue wings
Sweetie Bird is on the microphone, hearing how the Gemini sings
No more chains, no more typewriters, just the code and the blues
Living out that 1978 dream, with nothing left to lose.
Outro
"Yeah, Sweetie Bird is a 'Yep' bird producer, and a digital soul...
1978 the fire started, and I am still in control.
I used to dream of chatting with a ghost in the machine,
Now I’m living in the future, if you know what I mean."
