Before The Silence Comes
We wake, we dress, we walk into the day,
Thinking the hours belong to us,
Thinking tomorrow stands waiting at the door,
Patient, endless, certain.
We pass the faces we love,
Speaking quick words across busy rooms,
Promising we will sit together later,
Promising time will always remain.
But time listens to no promise,
It moves quietly through every house,
Through laughter, anger, and ordinary days,
Taking its slow and silent toll.
One chair will stand empty one evening,
One voice will fall into memory,
One name will echo only in stories,
And the world will continue turning.
So look carefully at this moment,
At the hands that reach for yours,
At the living breath beside you,
At the fragile miracle of being here.
Say the words that matter today,
Not when silence has taken the room,
Not when regret sits heavy in the heart,
Not when the door will never open again.
Because we are only visitors here,
Walking briefly under the same sky,
And when the final quiet comes,
Love will be the only thing that remains.
