In winter, in the arboretum and the yards in our region, camellias blooms. Camellia is a tea family plant with lovely flowers. In Japan, camellias have been painted very frequently. Here is one by me (watercolor).

The Day I Stopped Avoiding the Mirror
That autumn was the first time I truly stood still in front of the mirror. Not the quick glance while brushing my teeth, not the distracted look before rushing out the door. I mean standing under the bathroom light, staring at my hairline as if it were trying to tell me something. The corners had receded—just a little. Maybe no one else would notice. But I did. My wife and I saw Man on the Run, a nearly 2-hour documentary on Amazon Prime, about Wings, Paul McCartney's group that flew around the world from shortly after The Beatles broke up in early 1970 to shortly after John Lennon was murdered at the end of 1980, making a Beatles reunion forever impossible.
