My dreams are not a waste

My dreams are not a waste

And you want to replace them

With something mediocre

Something that I'm not thrilled over

To make a decision so young

To force me to choose

Seems like a game I'll never win

But only lose

Because if I choose what my heart desires

It will never be enough

I am just a nobody, and I need to be tough

Because "life is rough, and most people don't get to

do what they want to do, so just stop dreaming now."

Stop dreaming now, for your own safety,

Caution, before getting too ahead of yourself

Because the only thing that's ever mattered

Even more than how you felt, is how the world felt,

How the world feels- that's what's real, Anne Marie

You, you see, are invisible; you don't matter

You'll never matter

Just give up now and accept your fate.

That's how I was told about dreams

When I was only seventeen

So there's a reason I never tried

I listened to their lies

And began to feel like they really were true

That I was worthless, talentless

Meaningless to you

It's never enough

It's never enough

My dreams are a waste

My dreams are a waste
