That summer long past, the dragon flies hummed near my earlobe exposed.
As my sister hung precariously from the green apple trees,
and her pet snake baked under Grandma’s porch steps.
Beyond the house the garden rioted with flowers blooming and crops growing,
waiting summer ending to reap while through the long summer days
I was preoccupied with catching the speedy elusive hummingbird and
the Arrival of my baby brother.
