From a pale blue dot

Legatus Perpetuus

Pale Blue Dot: last image of Earth from Voyager One Feb 14, 1990, Nasa/JPL-Caltech

Plenipotentiary of peace

Your journey takes you far from this

World forever at war

Unto tranquil space

Forevermore

Nevermore will we see you

Though we hear you

Listen to your heavenly voice

Traversing the extra-Earthly ethers

Briefer and briefer are the songs

You sing

Bring to us

From the space beyond

Soon they will cease

As we release you to your perpetual mission

Special Envoy of this world

Bearing a golden gift for others

With our sights and sounds

Thoughts

Feelings

Tongues they will not understand

From this land

Another voice they may

Spoken from the great ocean below

To the endless waters above

Cetacean songs of love

For the universe

For all time

Voyager 1 is currently approaching a historic milestone. In November 2026, it will become the first human-made object to have travelled to a distance of one light-day away from Earth ($~25.9$ billion km).
