Here Be Monsters
A Seafaring Villanelle

Introduction
My friend the artist Mick Smith has started a series of nautical art pieces and this one took my fancy.
The music is "Water Beastie" by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band from the album "Rockdrill". I love that this combines many styles from traditional to comic, to monstrous. I know it's about Nessie but I think it suits.

Monstrously haunting! I like the cadence of this and use of repeated phrases. Love a good sea voyage.
Oh wow, this was awesomeeee! Loved your poem!
This is lovely and suits the pic perfectly.
Fantastic piece!
Wow, this is written with such a lyrical voice. Well done! "The Serpent Rose, The Crew Did Freeze It Came Toward The Ship, Onwards Cutting Through The Waters With Ease" Love the tempo!
Great work for I could see the old-time ship as in the image sailing along.
I even had the perfect melody of this poem in my mind! Gorgeous sea villanelle, it definitely has a rythm and vibe! :)
