He melted my heart

I Came A Long Way To Watch A Snowman Dance

I came a long way through quiet streets and time,

With cold in my pockets and hope in my hands.

The night felt wide and strangely kind,

As if it knew where I planned to stand.

He waited there under a flickering lamp,

Coal eyes lifted toward falling snow.

The world held its breath in a silver hush,

Letting small miracles start slow.

When the wind arrived he leaned and swayed,

A careful step, then one more turn.

Not graceful, not trained, yet fully alive,

Teaching still hearts how to learn.

Children laughed somewhere out of sight,

Footprints stitched the frostbound ground.

I stayed silent, afraid to break

The fragile rhythm I had found.

His scarf took flight like a borrowed dream,

Buttons gleamed in borrowed light.

Nothing lasts, the cold reminded me,

Still everything felt right.

By morning he would be water and memory,

A story told with a softer tone.

I came a long way to watch a snowman dance,

And left knowing I was not alone.
