Jacaranda Tree

In summer, they turn the landscape into a purple heaven

Jacaranda @Seema

I was new to immigrant life,

lonely, away from familiarity.

After my spouse went to work,

I was alone, with no one to talk to.

Life is short,

and being bored is audacity.

So I thought to explore,

the new neighborhood.

I had a nice little bicycle

and a camera.

All flora and fauna awaited,

to be identified,

so what was the excuse?

I set out to be surprised,

not very far from my house.

I was stunned by a vista:

purple glory, as if,

I reached the heaven.

Canopy on the tree,

fallen flowers on the ground.

I learned its name:

jacaranda, a beloved street tree

that puts on a show

in the peak of summer.

I enjoyed the view,

gratitude for the serendipity,

and went often,

to savor the wonder.

I saw honeybees, hummingbirds,

and orioles on its branches.

My world is busy now,

wherever I go, kids with tow,

I introduce this lovely plant

to little nature-loving tots.

What a beautiful poetically driven story. From being new to a land. To feeling lonely. To going on a stroll. Coming across a jacaranda tree. To then teaching the little nature loving tots about this tree. With all its purple fallen flowers. I loved the imagery represented throughout, it felt lovely taking a stroll through my imagination. Well done Seema.
