I have never been to Japan,
yet I am drawn
to its life philosophies,
to the beauty of its countryside.
I read its cultures,
learn its language,
I paint its themes often,
for it gives me peace.
Here is one,
farmers working in rice fields,
a crop so central to their identity.
Quiet houses in the backdrop,
a shrine too,
persimmon trees standing tall,
their branches heavy,
with plump orange fruits.
Blue mountains in the horizon.
Everything feels serene,
sustainable, in harmony.
I hope you feel
the joy with me.

Japan is a beautiful country. Your poem evokes serene images of cherry trees in bloom and temples
I have this feeling too. I studied Japanese for 10 years at home and sometimes in classes and yet, I have never been there. I hope it is the same as the dreams of it.
That gives of such blissful vibes. Loved your poem and painting!
I lived there for three years. My original wish was to live in a small village, but the school I worked for said that as crazy and shipped me to western Tokyo. This makes me wish I had lived in that quiet setting... 🎏🎐🧧👘🏮
