Mulberry Grove

Saved us on hot summer day

By Seema PatelPublished 11 months ago 1 min read

It was a scorching hot day —

the kind that could cause heatstroke,

a truly hostile weather.

We were out with friends,

spending time near a lake.

The drought was ongoing,

and the water had shrunk.

Luckily,

there stood a mulberry grove —

old trees,

whose vast canopy

formed a green umbrella

with a million leaves.

Under it, we sat.

The summer sun no longer bothered us.

With birds chirping

and breeze fanning our skin,

only peace reigned.

Once again, I understood

the importance

of planting trees.

What a great poem for Arbor Day. Trees are our friends, but one must listen. Good job.

  • Today also I had under an oak. AC room can’t compare.

  • My dad has told me how cooling it feels to sit under a tree. Loved your poem and photo!
