New Year’s Kisses
On to the rest of our life together

New Year’s Kisses
The clock counted down,
in a room of bright cheer,
our lips met once,
as midnight drew near.
Champagne glasses shook,
in hands tight and warm,
we kissed as the old year
gave way to the storm.
Outside, fireworks
tore holes in the dark,
inside, only us,
and the spark in our hearts.
Time held its breath,
the world spun anew,
every new year will start
with the taste of you.
We whispered our wishes,
as sparks lit the sky,
hands clutched together,
watching years slip by.
The past slipped away,
like smoke in the night,
and we held the future,
in the soft morning light.
A single embrace,
through confetti and cheer,
bound our new beginnings,
with the love we hold dear.
