Socks in the saucepan,

labels lost, bubble wrap dreams -

chaos wears my shoes.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Packing, moving...UGH!
each box filled...overflowing
my teeth and nerves hurt.
~
I pack my own self -
"can't fit in the truck". Boxes
all jostle for room.
~
Fold, seal, lift, repeat -
a dance of cardboard and dust,
sweat drips in the mix .
~
Boxes stacked like walls -
memories wrapped to silence,
the future beckons.
~
One last look behind,
then forward to the unknown -
new space awaits name.
    You really summed up that feeling of moving. You had me at the first line 'Socks in the saucepan.' When I'm packing to move, I end up shoving different things in different boxes and unpacking is always a challenge because not everything goes in the same place lol!
    Oh how I hate and love moving. It can be hard to say goodbye to a lived in space. And it’s always so much work, to the point of pain and grime. But there is an invigorating sense of renewal that comes with the move. I always feel optimistic when I slam the last box in the trunk. But unpacking at the destination is just the worst lol. Always takes me months to finish. Your poem made me feel every bit of all that. Nicely done! True to life.
    Packing always stresses me out so I'm glad I never had to move before. Loved your poem!
    Cool structure Novel. I hate moving, so this captured a lot of the chaos. These were a couple of my favourite lines, “memories wrapped to silence, the future beckons.” Have a great night!
    I can so much relate to this, as someone who moved over 20 times in my life. Great haiku, Novel!
