Philocalist

Those who see beauty in everything

By Seema PatelPublished 8 months ago 1 min read
@Seema

I am a philocalist,

find beauty everywhere.

This flower patch,

colorful and vibrant,

was by the roadside,

near our apartment.

On the way back,

from class or walks,

I would pause there

to gaze and admire,

pink bougainvillea,

yellow encelia,

and red aloe.

Often I saw honeybees,

and hummingbirds.

I soaked in the beauty,

took pictures.

In this ritual of mindfulness,

I gained a lot

and harmed none.

This habit continues,

and through the

crests and troughs of life,

I am unfazed.

For the love of

sun and dirt,

plants and birds

rivers and clouds,

I am unharmed,

by mundane grinds,

it's the benefit,

of being a philocalist.

I must be one too for I could see a clump of weeds with flowers and wonder. For I could see a story also unfold in that patch of weeds. Good job.
