The Caged Bird

They Both Fight To Be Free

The Caged Bird

In shadows deep, she stands so still,

A caged bird yearning for the open thrill.

Her heart, once bright with dreams that soared,

Now whispers softly of the freedom stored.

The sun outside, a warm embrace,

Is just a memory she can't replace.

Her wings, though strong, now feel the weight,

As hope drifts slowly, a distant fate.

Freedom's songs dance inside her mind,

Yet solitude wraps her, cruel and blind.

With every beat, her spirit fades low,

A tale of sorrow only she knows.

Each dawn reflects her grace in decline,

The bars that hold her, heavy and unkind.

In every flutter, time's harsh decree,

A flicker of the life that longs to be free.

But deep within, a spark fights to shine,

A flame of courage, ever divine.

For even in chains, her heart will grow,

And dreams, though caged, will still overflow.

So let her sing, though shadows cast doubt,

For in her heart, wild winds will shout.

Yet as the days pass, the hope starts to fray,

For every cage holds a price to pay.

And in the silence, where dreams wither slow,

She realizes freedom is a distant glow.

A quiet resignation settles like night,

For the cage becomes home, and the dark feels right.

Good job, Marie. I think at times we all feel like caged birds. Whether it's in what we choose to do day in to day out or the choices we make or made were right or wrong. Questions with and without answers for this will also make feel 'caged' in at times.
