The Sea God's Wife
A Mythical Marine SonnetIn Celebration Of International Women's Day
The title was taken from a line in "The Winter King" but she is not given a name just a deity's wife. So I will give her a name and make her a queen of the sea.
This has been written on International Women's Day and this poem is a celebration of the importance and power of women, especially the last line

They Saw This Wonder Rise From The Ocean
A Beauty So Heavenly, Brought To Life
They Knew Not Her Name But Gave Devotion
And They Called Her At First The Sea God's Wife
๐งโโ๏ธโ๐โ๐งโโ
And Then They All Saw Her Lustrous Beauty
She Was Venus, Beauteous Queen Of The Sea
Her Subjects Knew Her As Aphrodite
Attended By Mermaids, Adored Is She
๐งโโ๏ธโ๐โ๐งโโ
Tritons And Dolphins, Creatures Who Love Her
Queen Of The Ocean, Beholden To None
Selkies And Mermen, Grey Seals And Others
All Are Her Subjects, For Them She's The One
๐งโโ๏ธโ๐โ๐งโโ
Her Names Are Venus And Aphrodite
She Is Woman, And Yes She Is Mighty
