***

where is that line

the one that protected me from

too far...

saying

feeling

going

too far

when did the words used for anger

hate

frustration

become the ones that

my ears absorb

(fuck off)

when did that become what is thought of me

when did words get teeth

gritty, bloodthirsty fangs

when did they gain the power

to break more than bones

when did they become more lethal

than sticks and stones

when did my heart first fall to its blows

anger does not soothe the tears

as they burn my cheeks

it does not comfort or erase

it can not be louder than the knowing

that I deserve the pain

the weight in accepting

it is time

to

(fuck off)
