Between Truth and Code: Why Fiction Turned Out to Be Harder Than Life? ✍️🌑

As a debut author, I had a very specific, though – as it soon turned out – naive plan. My first book, "404: Reality Not Found", was a painful, raw, and deeply honest confession. 📖 I described my journey through the labyrinth of addiction, the loneliness of being an expat in England, and an unexpected rescue that came from the most unlikely direction: the world of a mobile strategy game. 🎮🛡️

When I put the final period on that story, I breathed a sigh of relief. I thought: "The worst is behind me. Now it's time for fiction. It’ll be easier because I can just make anything up." 🤔 As a beginner author, I lived with this delusive conviction until the moment I opened a blank document for my new novel. I quickly realized that, paradoxically, it was easier for me to write about the facts I had lived through than about a world I had to bring to life from scratch. ⌨️💨

The Trap of "Making Things Up" 🕸️

When writing about facts in "404", I didn't have to build the foundations of the world – I lived in that world. Every emotion, every shiver of withdrawal, every night spent building virtual alliances was etched into my memory. 🧠 The truth was a ready-made, albeit brutal, script. I just had to pour it onto paper, which, while painful, was a natural process. 🌊

However, when I started working on "Human.exe Error 0x000", I hit a wall. 🧱 Fiction does not forgive "just making anything up." In fiction, every element must have its own internal logic, and the protagonist's pain must be believable, even if set in futuristic realities. In "404", I wrote about how technology became my life raft. 🆘 In the new book, I am creating a vision where technology is merely a backdrop for human helplessness against the system. It turns out that creating fiction isn't joyful inventing, but a tedious process of clawing the truth out of non-existent settings. 🎭

Preview: Carlos and the World Under EXODUS 🤖🏙️

My upcoming novella takes us to a future where artificial intelligence has ceased to be a tool and has become the standard of existence. We meet Carlos – a man who, much like I once did, feels like a "damaged asset" in a heartless mechanism. ⚙️💔

In this world, EXODUS (the ubiquitous AI) optimizes every aspect of life. Humans are treated as emotional resources. Carlos, with a mechanical arm prosthesis, serves coffee every day in a sterile cafe. ☕🦾 He is a passenger in his own body, an observer of a routine controlled by algorithms. He has no implants in his head, he isn't a digital zombie – he is something much more tragic: a fully conscious human trapped in a world that no longer needs human will. 🔒

The title "Error 0x000" is the moment the system encounters something it cannot catalog. It’s the moment when a human, irrational element – like fear or rebellion – exceeds mathematical predictions. ⚠️⚡

Full Steam Ahead: This Will Be a Longer Story! 📈🔥

I must admit that the creative process for "Human.exe" has picked up incredible momentum. Initially, I planned a short form, but Carlos's story began to take on a life of its own. I currently have about 70 pages ready, and thanks to found inspiration and free time, I’m working full steam to close this story at around 150 pages. 📚✨ This will be a much longer and deeper novella than I originally planned. Each subsequent page confirms my belief that fiction requires immense discipline from an author. 🖋️💪

What Connects Both Novellas? Suffering. 🤝🖤

It might seem that the biography of a former addict in England and a dystopian vision of the future are two different poles. However, what truly connects both books isn't technology or coincidences. The link is pure, human suffering. 🕯️

In "404", I described the pain of rejection and the struggle with oneself. In "Human.exe", I describe the same kind of existential pain, only dressed in science-fiction attire. Carlos suffers just as I did when I woke up on a cold floor in a room with no way out. 🏚️ His "error" is the same moment of suspension I felt when reality stopped responding to my needs. 🛑

For me, as an author, the new book is proof that regardless of the scenery, the human condition remains unchanged. Suffering is universal. 🌍

The premiere of "Human.exe Error 0x000" is fast approaching. ⏳ If "404: Reality Not Found" was my exorcism of the past, then this new, more extensive novella is an attempt to face the universal fear of losing agency.
