Going Back A Bit

Why I Am Resharing My Old Stories

A Nightcafe Creation By The Author

Introduction

When I was unable to publish, I started going back to find stories that I could repurpose, but then I saw old pieces that I thought were still excellent but had very little interaction from other Vocal creators. So I had a thought....

What Was I Thinking?

In the Vocal Community, new people are always joining, and unfortunately, we lose some when they drift away.

Many of my most-read stories have very little interaction from other Vocal Creators, and I documented examples of that in this piece.

My most-read stories have changed slightly, but as you can see, there is relatively little interaction from Creators compared with actual reads apart from the three at the bottom, which are two Top Stories and a Resource article.

So I thought, all the new Vocal Creators won't have seen some of my excellent work, so it might be worth resharing them today, so that is what I have started doing.

I am trying to pace myself, because if I publish too many stories, people will just drop me.

I don't expect anyone to read all my work (3,520 stories), but I hope there will be the odd one that interests people. I have been surprised at some of the comments on my reshared pieces, from people who are new to Vocal or missed them the first time around.

This one got another seven comments:

Unfortunately, finding ones I want to reshare is difficult for me because my back catalogue is so huge. This is one that I wanted to republish, but I cannot find it in my stories list.

If anyone can tell me how to search my stories list, I would love to know. This is the list I mean:

Conclusion

I do believe that most of my work is excellent, but because I publish so much, people are going to miss some that they would enjoy. Also, for those new to Vocal, they may look at my back catalogue and be almost frightened by it.

I see my publications on Vocal as a whole, not something to be forgotten about. I go back, and sometimes I am surprised at how good some of my stories are. Sometimes I find ones that are not so good, and those I will repurpose for pieces like this.

Thank you for reading, and I hope to hear from you.

The music is Carole King's "Going Back", covered by Freddie Mercury when he was Larry Lurex.

Oh we can only do that from our Published list? I didn't know that. I hope you find a way to find that piece

  • I have never kept up with how many reads I get mainly because I am the type of personality that forgets receipts, starts writing then winds up playing word feud instead. I do save everything so looking back I also find some really funny and strange ideas in my file of "to finish". I think it's great to reshare as the community evolves! Oldies but Goodies category would be a great start for newbies, maybe? Love Freddie btw. ☮️💕
