Trenton locked the bathroom and turned around to wash her face. The cool water felt nice against her skin and after wiping her face with the soft green towel on the towel rack, she looked at herself in the mirror. Her skin was slightly worn with a few wrinkles in the creases of her forehead and surrounding her lips. She looked tired and her blue eyes seemed faded in color, like she had endured a lifetime of experiences already.

Trenton pulled on her clothing. She could smell the subtle scent of laundry soap and fabric softener fill the air. The clothes were still warm and as she took another look in the mirror she wondered how she would look to future employers. All she had packed in her bag were flannel shirts and jeans, not exactly the most professional attire for someone that was looking for a job. She shrugged, doing her best to clean herself up. There wasn't much else she could do at this point. She had no money except for the bit of cash that Pam had given her, and she wasn't planning on spending that on clothing when she might need something else in the future.

"You about ready?" Trenton called to Pam.

"Almost," Pam said from the lower floor.

Trenton picked up her remaining clothes and took them to her room, careful to fold the clean clothes and set them in the chair, separating them from the clothing she wore the night before. Trenton pulled on her shoes and walked downstairs, looking around for the other woman. Pam was nowhere in sight. Trenton wondered to the window, checking to see if the other woman's car was still there and noticed a figure walking on the side of the driveway.

"She's not ready for visitors," Pam's voice yelled. "You need to respect that and give her time to heal."

"I'm her brother," the figure replied. Trenton saw the man step out of the shadows and look towards the porch. "You have no right to do this."

"I have every right and you would have thought if she meant so much to you that you would have been up at the hospital with her."

Trenton scanned the man by the driveway, noticing that he had the same brown hair and blue eyes that she did. She saw him shake his head and then glance in her direction. For a second the two locked eyes and she saw a look of sadness cross the man's face.

"I'll be back," he said, turning around. "And I'm going to tell her the truth about what happened."

"We'll see," Pam replied. "I wouldn't trust you as far as I could throw you."

Trenton heard the door slam and turned her attention away from the window. She didn't want Pam to know that she had heard a thing.

Pam walked into the room, a look of guilt on her face. "How long have you been standing there?" She asked.

"I just got down here," Trenton smiled, hoping Pam believed her.

"Oh," Pam said, her expression more relaxed.

"Are you ready to go?" Trenton asked.

"Almost," Pam said, pointing to one of her brown eyes. "I still need to put in my contacts."

Trenton nodded and watched as the other woman walked to the bathroom. She was certain at this point that Pam and her were not related, but she wasn't quite sure what the whole story was or why the other woman was being so nice to her. Trenton thought back to the man that was in the driveway. He had said something about telling the real story. What did that mean? Why wasn't Pam being honest with her?
