After the Storm
Outside, it is deathly still. The trees are statues frozen in time and the sky is a blanket of heavy, dark clouds. The atmosphere is dead but very much alive. The atmosphere has invisible energy, full of life but the clouds are deceivingly lifeless.

Medicinal Melodies
If you were to ask me if I would rather lose my sense of sight or my sense of hearing, I would choose going blind without a second thought. Being unable to enjoy music would leave me devastated. Music is the one reliable comfort I've had throughout my life. Without it, there is no doubt my mental health would suffer. The infinite silence would most likely drive me insane, and I would be left unable to cope with the dynamics of my emotions.

Sincere Gratitude. Top Story - December 2024.
Over the past couple of weeks, I've seen so many amazing dedications thanking the Vocal community for their continued support. I'm usually not one to jump on a bandwagon, but after a (completely unexpected) successful week on Vocal and being the week of Thanksgiving here in the U.S., I wanted to take some time to say thank you.

A Letter Sent Above
To my unofficial mother-in-law, I say "unofficial" since we are not legally bound, but we don't need the law to bind us. Time and love have done that. You'd like to call me your future daughter-in-law, though your son and I have never been, and likely never will be, engaged to be married. It was a choice he and I made, but you still treated me as your own daughter for over a decade. I was the "baby girl."

The Nymphs of Alpheia
The river ran backwards on the day the Queen vanished. Nora witnessed it herself. Hushed voices and frantic footsteps roused her from her sleep in the early morning hours of that day. The glow of candlelight danced along the bottom edge of her bedroom door. Nora's heart leaped and lodged itself into her throat. Sharp whispers poked holes in Nora's resolve as she jumped from her bed and swung open the door. The unruly curls of her ginger brown hair bounced against her warm cheeks. The Queen's lady and the late King's advisor turned at Nora's unexpected appearance.
