Inauguration Day, a murder of crows flew north to Canada. 🐦⬛ 🐦⬛ 🐦⬛ 🐦⬛ Note: We were headed to the airport on the 2025 U.S. Inauguration Day, which ironically, was also Martin Luther King Day, and there was a murder (group) of crows flying north. I pointed this out, saying, even the crows are getting out of town!

Owl Love You Forever
Last year, after my husband and I walked at a pond in our neighborhood, I suggested we go into the small brewery across the street. A lit Edison lightbulb string, attached to the black iron fence, was an invitation to passersby. "We support local businesses. Let's check it out. You can get a beer, and I'll take sips of it." Bars and breweries are not to his liking, but he reluctantly agreed.

ISHIRINI. Honorable Mention in Through the Lens Challenge.
She was found dying slowly, pregnant. Ishirini's pain and heartbreak are mine. After discovering Edgar Rice Burroughs in grade school, I was captivated by the character he created, Tarzan of the Apes®. I aimed to beat my friend in our class reading contest, and did it by reading one book a night in that series. Afterward, I became obsessed with Africa. I wanted to see lions, elephants, and rhinos and dreamed of going there one day.

Creativity Commitment
While on medical leave in 2016, recuperating from a hip replacement, I started a novel. Propped up outside in my backyard with my two dogs for company, and Mount Rainier's glacier peak shining at me in the distance, a story formed in my mind. The book's location was in my vicinity, with streets and landmarks that friends and residents would recognize. Its characters were both young and old, surviving and resisting - joining together in a harsh environment impacted by worldly events. As the characters came to life, words flowed, and my fingers flew across the keyboard to keep up with the speeding narrative zooming in my head. It was my sincere hope to get the book done pronto.
