Casting Tent Shadows For Quiet
A poem on Vocal reminded me how much my husband and I dislike camping. He completed 21 years in the military and won't camp now. We want COMFORT. We want beds, a TV, a stove is great, or at least a microwave, and a bathroom with a shower.

Stephen King Short Story
This is a review of Stephen King's short story, The Death of Jack Hamilton. John Dillinger was a criminal in his teens. When he was arrested for beating up a businessman, his father told him to plead guilty and take his punishment. The problem is they punished 20-year-old Johnnie too severely with a 10-20-year sentence, although he had no previous record. His accomplice, who had a record, had a good lawyer and only did a few years. Dillinger's wife of four years divorced him. He did nine years, part of which he did in the Indiana penitentiary, at his request, because he played ball and said their team was better.

Podcast Review - Michelle Obama Podcast
Michelle Obama's podcast, The Light Podcast, had an episode in 2020 with Dr. Sharon Malone called What Your Mother Never Told You About Health. Michelle begins with, "How many men do you think could deal with the severest form of cramps, which literally feels like a knife being stabbed and turned, and then released, and then turned, and then released? And you gotta do that, and you gotta get up and keep going. It's like, go to work."

Stephen King Short Story Review. Top Story - June 2024.
Review of Stephen King's short story All That You Love Will Be Carried Away King spends time on character development and building suspense in this short story, which isn't horror, so I put it in the fiction community.

Driving Teton Pass
In 1997, my daughter and I drove to Jackson, Wyoming, so she could check out an environmental college. It was June, and that summer had extreme flooding all over the western states. There wasn't GPS or mobile phones (or phone photos!). I took a paper map and plotted our route with a highlighter before we left home.

HORROR Review of "The Man in the Black Suit" Stephen King short story
I have an older, very thick book of Stephen King's short stories. I've read many of his older books but not short stories. At the end of "The Man in the Black Suit," King states that his favorite Nathaniel Hawthorne story is "Young Goodman Brown." He thinks it is one of the best American short stories ever written. This short story by King is his hommage to that.
