Stanley Cup Final Game Five: Conn(or) McSmythe?
One night after the Larry O'Brien trophy was awarded to the NBA Champion Boston Celtics, the Stanley Cup was in Sunrise, Florida for Game Five of the Stanley Cup Final. The Florida Panthers' plans to complete a four-game sweep were thwarted by an onslaught of Edmonton Oilers goals--eight of them, to be exact. Only three teams forced Game Six of the Cup Final after falling behind 3-0. Would the Edmonton Oilers become the fourth?

Finals Game Five: 18 and Golden
I have seen a number of playoff series in the NBA, NHL, and MLB where a team is up 3-0 with a chance to sweep. Sometimes, the sweep's completed, but there have been moments where the team down 3-0 wins Game Four. Now, when that happens, it's the same sentiment: "Well, at least they didn't get swept." You can always tell whether or not Game Four serves as that lone win in the series or not. A few times, said team does win Game Five. In rare moments, they actually make it to Game Seven. And as we all know, there have only been five overall moments between the leagues where a team actually won four straight to win the series after losing the first three games.

Yoga Teacher Killer: A Look Into Kaitlin Armstrong's Path to Murder
I remember this story very well, mainly because of the insanity involved at the tail end. Honestly, it sounds like something from a movie, yet despite figuring that Lifetime would do a movie about this, I expected a long wait. After all, there are still some "women who kill" stories that still need to be played out on Lifetime. Yet the wait wasn't that long (I guess watching all of that sports helped). Before I talk about Lifetime's movie, here's a look at the true crime story about Kaitlin Armstrong.

Stanley Cup Final Game Four: Change of Plans
Sooooo... that just happened. The Stanley Cup was in the building in Edmonton for Game Four of this year's Final. The Florida Panthers were all set to complete the sweep and capture the Cup for the first time in their franchise history. They shut down the Oilers in the first two games, and Game Three was a hard fought battle won by the Panthers. All signs pointed to the Panthers taking Lord Stanley back to the Sunshine State.

Finals Game Four: Brooms Broken
A strange rarity hit the sports world entering Game Four of this year's NBA Finals: both the NBA and Stanley Cup Finals stood at 3-0. The last time we saw a sweep in the Stanley Cup Final was 1998. The last time we saw a sweep in the NBA Finals was 2018, much more recent than the NHL. The last time we saw sweeps in both in the same year, you have to go all the way back to 1995. That year, the Houston Rockets swept the Orlando Magic to repeat as NBA Champions, and the New Jersey Devils swept the Detroit Red Wings to win their very first Stanley Cup.

2024 Stanley Cup Final Preview
It's here, folks! The greatest finale in sports has arrived! The Stanley Cup Final is always such a spectacular phenomenon. I always love the Final regardless of who is in it; I love it so much that I often have to remind myself that it's the end--the end of a spectacular season of the greatest sport in the universe. 32 teams begin their quest, but only 16 of them can qualify for the big dance. When the dust settles after nearly two months, two teams remain in the battle for the greatest trophy in all of sports, the Stanley Cup.

I'm a huge, and I mean huge fan and enthusiast of the Looney Tunes cartoons. I've watched the shorts religiously for close to 35 years, I have the various DVDs--hell, I've even created some DVDs. There was always something magical about the Looney Tunes. Whether it's the wackiness, the dialogue, the storylines, or Mel Blanc's iconic voicework, one thing's for sure: there's nothing like the Looney Tunes.

What Went Wrong: The Stars at Night are Big and Bright...but NOT During the West Final
You know, I have a knack for exposing frauds in sports. That knack isn't limited to the NHL, it's in all leagues. I've used that word quite a bit as a hockey fan. I've used that word to describe the Boston Bruins big time, the Florida Panthers (though they keep getting long runs somehow), and this year pretty much showed us that the Winnipeg Jets are in that "fraud" category. I have never used that word to describe the Dallas Stars.

What Went Wrong: Tommy Had a Candle--What's YOUR Excuse?!
Boy, did you guys blow it! Let's face facts, the New York Rangers had the easiest chance to reach the Stanley Cup Final. Their road to the Eastern Conference Final was easy, but could have been easier. They started 7-0 in this year's playoffs, similar to 1994 (we know what happened back then). Yet they lost Games Four and Five against the Carolina Hurricanes, and were actually on the verge of losing Game Six and causing "reverse sweep" talks to start. Thankfully, Chris Kreider decided to become superhuman in that third period.

The Kansas City Chiefs: It's Always Something
Remember when I said that this team was a likable version of the New England Patriots dynasty? Yeah...about that. So to say that the Kansas City Chiefs have had an...interesting offseason would be an understatement. They say, "Heavy is the head that wears the crown," but come on. This is no excuse for the way some of their players have been acting. Though, this isn't the first time there's been drama with the Chiefs; we all remember Tyreek Hill's legal problems, which (I believe) led them to move on from him, and they've won back-to-back Super Bowls since then. However, in the time that's passed since the Chiefs won Super Bowl LVIII, the drama is doing the same thing that Joe Burrow's done: own the Chiefs.

PWHL Finals Game Five: Her-story Achieved
It's been an amazing inaugural season of the Professional Women's Hockey League, and it came to a spectacular end on a Wednesday evening. Six teams fought for the honor of becoming the league's first-ever champions, and it came down to two teams: PWHL Boston and PWHL Minnesota. Game One went Boston's way, but Minnesota took Games Two and Three of the best-of-five Finals. Minnesota thought they had won the whole thing in double overtime of Game Four, but goalie interference prevented that. Boston would win just over a minute later, and as a result, the first-ever PWHL Finals came down to one final game.
