Battling Hurricane Irma
Not Another One Hurricanes are terrifying. Despite growing up on a tropical island where hurricanes are common, I never underestimate their power. I've experienced hurricanes both in Puerto Rico and now in Florida. Each one was more terrifying than the previous one.

Supporting Our Elders
How do the elders live in the U.S. with only social security? I have sat down with some elders to keep them company and let them talk. Elders have a myriad of interesting stories of when they were young, which I enjoy. But one conversation I do not enjoy is talking about their finances. I feel it is their way of just letting it out — a rant perhaps, and I am appalled at the amount of money they receive. Some of these people worked for over 40 or 50 years and had withholdings from every paycheck. I knew that social security is not something we can solely rely on, but it is just plain ridiculous.

Discovering the Captivating City of Napoli
Visiting Enchanting Napoli I’ve read stories about how Napoli in Italy isn’t a safe place for tourists. We visited Napoli in September 2023 and fell in love with the town. We were not afraid, nor did we encounter any situations to be fearful of. Of course, we need to be cautious of the places we visit, but you find those types of places everywhere in the world. It is not something just local to Napoli.

Separating Personal and Professional Life
I have set restrictions on work and social media in my life. It is vital to keep our personal and professional lives separate. I hear stories of people who make the mistake of befriending their co-workers or bosses on social media, only to face the consequences of their personal lives affecting their professional trajectory.

Exploring Civitavecchia
The Splendor of Civitavecchia Italy has so much to explore. During our most recent Mediterranean cruise, one stop was in Civitavecchia. Civitavecchia, Italy, is a place filled with history and beauty. As we stepped off the cruise ship onto the cobblestone streets, the charm of this coastal town northwest of Rome immediately struck me. The sea breeze filled the air and the sound of seagulls added to the picturesque scene. We wandered through the streets, marveling at the ancient buildings and the remnants of the Roman Dock, which spoke volumes about the town's rich past. The Port of Civitavecchia, originally built in the 2nd century, still stands strong, welcoming visitors from around the world.

Friendship Lost: A Lesson in Betrayal
A Helping Hand It was a cloudy September morning, an obvious sign it would rain. I was dropping my son off at the elementary school and afterward driving to work. I kissed him and promised to pick him up in the afternoon. As I walked towards my car, it began drizzling. Once inside, I noticed a woman struggling to open her vehicle’s window. When suddenly it began raining harder. Without a thought and with my umbrella in hand, I jumped out of my car and walked towards her.

Porto Venere: A Cultural Gem on Italy's Ligurian Coast
Porto Venere Italy is one of my favorite countries to visit. During our last trip, we had the pleasure of discovering the city of Porto Venere in the province of La Spezia on the Ligurian coast of Italy. We have visited many towns in Italy but none left me with such a culture shock as Porto Venere, even though I love this little town and its people.
