Background The world woke up on July 8 2022 to the shocking news that Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had been gunned down by a 41 year old gunman with a homemade weapon. Despite the severity of his wounds, Abe fought valiantly but succumbed to his injuries later that day.
Music is immortal and will be heard by numerous generations of listeners long after an artist has left us. Just as the likes of Mozart and Beethoven have ascended into history, so will many of the more contemporary artists we listen to today.
As I said before, music is a message. Usually, it is about a person, thing or an event. However, there exists a somewhat rarer class of songs that were written and released in response to another song.
Over the years, we have seen many legendary musical families. The Beach Boys, Bee Gees, Jacksons and The Isley Brothers are just a few that instantly come to mind. There have even been various other artists who are known to be related to one another but often work apart such as the Gallagher brothers who were formerly part of Oasis.
One-hit wonders are a rather unique trope in music. To put it briefly, a one-hit wonder is usually an artist who releases just one very popular song that their subsequent body of work simply cannot eclipse. Generally, one-hit wonder songs are extremely catchy and become staples of the mainstream to the point that it becomes difficult for the artist to further replicate their success.

One of the hottest topics in American news today is the leaked draft opinion of the US Supreme Court, which seems to lean towards overturning the landmark case of Roe v Wade. Essentially, if such a decision is issued, laws would go into effect in thirteen states completely banning abortion, and the right to have an abortion could be severely restricted by law in possibly another nineteen states.
