Where She Would've Stood. Runner-Up in The Shape of the Thing Challenge.
The wedding wasn’t held at a church, or a beach, or a plantation; it was held in their backyard, where so many memories lay. Barbecues. Cook-outs. Birthday parties. Graduation parties. Gender reveals. Baby showers. A funeral’s aftermath.

"Out Foxed" by Donna Fox. Content Warning.
Introduction The mighty Donna herself wished for my amazing eyes to gaze upon her work of art, so the great LJ has done so, and felt like making a “dramatic” introduction to capture the attention of fellow readers (and writers)!

The Cliffside Reunion. Honorable Mention in Everything Looks Better From Far Away Challenge.

They’d spent all of May waiting for the lake to rise. By June, it became clear that it wasn’t going to. Every year, for as long as she could remember, it would flood like clockwork. Not literally, of course, just in the sense that it would become fuller. The boats would come out, the fishing poles would emerge from garages, and the kids would start daring each other to jump off the dock.

The Room for Eliza. Runner-Up in You Were Never Really Here Challenge. Top Story - July 2025. Content Warning.
At the end of the hall, there’s a room we don’t talk about. Mother calls it the “Sewing Room”. She says it in the same tone she uses when talking about frozen casseroles or tax deadlines; blunt, flat, leaving no room for a second opinion. The “Sewing Room” hasn’t seen a spool of thread in, at least, thirteen years; a blatant lie, so we don’t talk about it long.
