Telephone Booth Time Machine
If you could, would you step into the booth, pick up the phone to answer the "call" and go back to a "better" America, and would we actually find what we’re looking for? Or are we simply witnessing the inevitable evolution of who we’ve always been—only now, the "volume" has been turned way up, to a deafening level by the social noise on the screens of our mobile phones. Wasn't it all so much much better when these things were still plugged in, but we were unplugged... But now we're being told America is in a "Golden Age" or at least trying to recapture one long lost.

Democracy Contested: The Two Party System is Tearing us Apart
The U.S. Constitution, a democratic promise from ourselves, for ourselves, and to our future selves. That we will always work to promote a culture and climate in the United States of America that is conducive to securing the blessings of Liberty; what ever that may subjectively be for the many people of this great nation. Because isn’t that what Thomas Jefferson meant by “self-evident” when talking about it in the Declaration of Independence. That liberty is unique to each individual as we each see it, and experience it; and to truly have liberty, we must accept equally what is subjectively self-evident to every person. Each human has the innate sense that they have the right to be themselves, who and how ever that means; as long as it doesn’t intentionally harm another physically or monetarily, right. We as Americans have lost the big picture, or maybe we never truly realized it, and we are now just slipping backwards, in a path that once had us headed in the right direction.

NO! Not a Thorn Tree.
The last of the leaves are gone, the few rusty soldiers who were bravely hanging on, through wind and rain to the twisted mostly bare branches, have finally fallen in autumn's retreat. Winter is officially here in Wisconsin, and it's safe to assume there will be brutally cold weather for the next three months that will be void of much color and fun. This could be why Christmas and the winter holidays can instill such fondness in the hearts and minds of those who hale from parts of the world that experience the season, which covers and clads Mother Nature in snow. It gives us a colorful and exciting reprieve from the bland and boring winter world, if even just for a short time.

Help Wanted
AMERICA! Land of the Free, and standing watch upon her shores, is the Statue of Liberty. For almost 140 years, she has proudly stood as a beacon to the World. A symbol of diversity, democracy, and opportunity, believed by many, to only exist in the "Great" United States. The idea for the statue was conceived in 1865, when the French historian and abolitionist Édouard de Laboulaye proposed a monument to commemorate the upcoming centennial of U.S. independence (1876), and the eradication of slavery, with the Union's Civil War victory. However, war in Europe and difficulty in raising funds for the project would see it take almost 20 years for sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi's, and civil engineer Gustave Eiffel's statue to be completed and erected on U.S. soil.

The Epstein Files Fiasco:
Picture this: March 2025, the MAGA faithful, freshly into a new administration, are strutting out of the White House, practically skipping like kids in a candy store. Why, you ask? Because they’re clutching the Epstein Files like they just won the lottery. “Justice is coming!” they chant jubilantly, as if they were in a poorly scripted superhero movie. Attorney General, Pam Bondi, in a separate interview displaying a smirk that could rival the Cheshire Cat, declares to the cameras, “You’re gonna want to stay tuned, America. The truth is about to drop, and heads are going to roll, because the Epstein Files and reports are on my desk!"

Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson's life was a pivotal chapter in the shaping of the United States, marked by profound intellectual contributions, complex personal relationships, and enduring political legacies. His journey to penning the Declaration of Independence was rooted in the growing discontent with British rule and a burgeoning belief in self-governance and natural rights. As a brilliant young Virginian lawyer and statesman, Jefferson emerged as a powerful voice for colonial rights. The Declaration of Independence primarily his work, was a revolutionary document that articulated the philosophy of natural rights—life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness—and the right of the people to reject governments that violate these rights; and to this very day, those are the things society most debate as to who and how those rights apply. It laid the philosophical groundwork for American independence and deeply influenced democratic movements worldwide.

I See You
The sun pinned high in the clear, cloudless blue sky, casting a warm glow over Southern California. A proud looking golden retriever trotted joyfully beside its owner, their shared adventures a testament to freedom and companionship. Every afternoon, they wandered through the familiar streets, the gentle breeze carried the air of life’s simple pleasures. Yet today, a heavier truth lingered in the air.
