1000 reads
I’ve reached 1000 reads! Thank you, everyone! What has 1000 reads on Vocal taught me? To be honest, it’s taught me a lot. I’ve learned to be a better writer because of Vocal. It’s given me more confidence. It takes a lot of hard work to become a great writer. It’s about networking and making friends. Also, I’ve learned that Vocal is a popularity contest.

Fridge o' Doom. Content Warning.
Jakob’s refrigerator was ancient and getting pretty worn out. The ice machine quit years ago, but the fridge still cooled. It was the spring of 1988. The First Assembly of God youth group I went to was attending a Bible Quiz in Dallas, Texas. My First Story
The first story I ever wrote that I didn’t write for a school project was a piece I wrote about my older brother teaching me how to write my name. I wrote this story for a contest a local publisher was running. I wrote the story to be a children’s book.

Anne of Green Gables
The book that changed my life the most was Anne of Green Gable by Lucy Maud Montgomery. This book gave me the courage to be me and helped shape me into the writer I am today. Anne, with an E, helped me understand that there was life after mortal embarrassment. This book is one I encouraged both my children to read.

Sleeping Beauties by Owen and Stephen King
I used to be a major Stephen King fan, but this book destroyed any enjoyment his work gave me. It is dull and drawn out way too long for no more of a plot than it has. Plus, the actions of the people are unbelievable. I don’t recommend this book.
