You Can't Run Forever
Every morning I’d cross my room like a thief in the night. The curtain remained closed, and the lights were turned off. I liked to believe that my avoidance had helped me develop spidey senses or night-vision skills of some sort. But in reality, my pinky toe usually paid the price for my stubbornness. To be fair, I didn’t think that my self-avoidance was so much stubbornness as it was a twisted sense of self-care.

A Queer Rebirth Has Come to Vocal. Top Story - January 2024.
The past few months have really been about rebirth for me. There have been many firsts which hasn’t been easy, and it has been more than I would have expected for someone in their late twenties. But along with these first, I’ve been rediscovering and reclaiming my identity. And along with that, I’ve also been given opportunities to advocate and empower others. From my job as a teacher, to my own inner child work, there have been so many grateful opportunities for queer voices and stories to emerge.

Yeah, Okay, I'll Play
Oh Vocal, Vocal, Vocal- you want me to set goals? And stick to them? My wife will laugh. It's not that I can't commit, or plan meticulously, or overthink about the near and far future (my strong suit). I can do all that without even blinking. If anything, I've probably achieved a majority of my goals in my life thus far and I'm pretty damn proud of myself.

Splintered Hope. Top Story - January 2024.
“You’re hopeless! Nothing anyone does is good enough for you. Don’t you see how you’re destroying this family?” Glass flew by my head and in the moment between shatter, I could almost see through to a better outcome. But gravity didn’t leave me enough time to consider hope before glass made contact with the wall in an explosive production.

Choosing Yourself For The New Year
Delta was so over the past year. They couldn’t wait for the clock to just strike midnight already so they could leave it all behind. While they knew that time was just a nonsensical concept humans invented to give meaning to their existence, they were ready for time to move on.

Broken Records. Content Warning.
Filled with teenage rebellion and curiosity, the two lovebirds pulled aside the window boards of the abandoned recording studio. The record label, long since forgotten by talent, had morphed into a popular make-out spot among teens at the local high school.

When You're Adopted Into Your Wife's Mexican Catholic Christmas . Top Story - January 2024.
I'm not going to pretend and say that this season was something I was looking forward to. In a lot of ways, it has had too many unwanted firsts and this has caused a lot of stress.

In the Market for More (or Less)
Every synapse in me stretched outwards hoping to catch her. But it was hopeless. Too many scents and sounds crowded my ability to find her, her braided hair becoming another pattern in the fabrics along the stalls. I could barely hear the sizzling and shouts of the vendors above my pounding heart, yet I could not seem to persuade my feet to move forward. I was frozen in a space that never stopped moving.
