A session on the psychiatrist's couch
This story is part of the Vocal + Assist on Facebook Unreliable Narrator Challenge. You can learn more about it here: Hi Doc. Nice to meet you. I'm Lobo Weir. Thank you for squeezing me in so late. I would have preferred an earlier appointment but no matter. We've probably got enough time to complete the session before I have to leave.

Puck's Pleasure Powder. Content Warning.
"Cast a spell and watch it work; Jason is no more a jerk." "That's not a spell. That's just a rhyme," Jess whispered as Anna cast some shapes under the canopy of the gnarled oak, making the candle flames flicker and bend with the draft from her movements. Jess was feeling a little jittery by the whole being-out-in-nature-at-night thing, having never done it before, not even a camp when she was a younger girl. Even though this was her idea, she was hoping that it would end soon and she could just go home. TV and a bath with bubbles - that's what she wanted right now. She was starting to regret ever suggesting this.

Watch out!
Me, some skis, and speed - Watch out! A line of skiers Fall like dominoes. *** I love skiing but it is fair to say that I am a clumsy skier, lacking finesse and sometimes control but big on enthusiasm and when I can, I like to go fast. As long as my thighs aren't burning, I'm fine.

Time to Breathe
I've been doing a lot of deep thinking lately. I'm not usually prone to this. I tend to be an "acknowledge it and move on" type of girl, but lately, I've found myself returning more and more to my introspective self and asking myself a lot of questions.

Dear Poltergeist
I do like these unofficial challenges that we all set ourselves here on Vocal and I have enjoyed writing this piece for Heather Hubler's challenge, although I don't think that it meets its criteria really. However, I started it and felt compelled to continue it to the bitter end and so, here it is. My feeling is that I would like to share it in the hope that it will be read. I certainly enjoyed writing it.

The Small Stuff. Top Story - October 2023. Content Warning.
Grab a coffee (or tea) and a moment and have a read because this is a bit of a long one, which was unexpected. Come with me into the small stuff - the detritus of Life - as I speculate on why it's as important (if not more so) than the big stuff.

The Boy in the Tree. Top Story - October 2023. Content Warning.
The boy climbs into the branches of the tree and sits. He glowers in his black hoodie. He has positioned himself so that he cannot be seen from the road. He wants to look out but remain clandestine to others. He likes the power it gives him to see but be unseen. He has limited experience of control, it being robbed from him more often than not. It is intoxicating to feel in charge of his actions and tonight, he has a secret purpose and is composing himself for its execution. His weapon lays by the tree's roots, somnolent but ready to roar.
