Rebecca A Hyde Gonzales
Bio
I love to write. I have a deep love for words and language; a budding philologist (a late bloomer according to my father). I have been fascinated with the construction of sentences and how meaning is derived from the order of words.

At the Edge of Voice
Already, I am looking— at my son, eight years old, his voice nearly stolen by the noose that sought his life and light. I look again, and wonder if the entertainer will carry forward the creative fire, my love for the brightness of the sun.

Existence - A Novela
Loss and grief are probably some of the most powerful emotions an individual can experience. Most cannot understand the depths of sorrow and despair of another until they have experienced it themselves. The waves of change in Existence represent the waves of emotion one experiences and the battle between the desire to hold on tightly and relinquishing control. There is a hope of abatement coupled with an emptiness that swirls in the murky waters of the riptide of grief. - Rebecca Gonzales, From a letter to Dr. Higgs, December 5, 2024

Writing Authentically:
“It is natural to take on someone else’s style… a prop that you use for a while until you have to give it back. And it just might take you to the thing that is not on loan, the thing that is real and true; your own voice.” - Anne Lamott, "Finding Your Voice", Bird by Bird.
