12 Angry Men Take a Turn at Law and Order
Lawyers, judges, precedent, legal statutes, expert witnesses, forensic evidence and the power of subpoena all play their litigious parts in the Criminal Justice System and American Law and Order. They also make for much ado when it comes to dispensing drama for the American moviegoer. But little screen time has really been given to the body that must discern all the technicalities to make the outcome compatible with simple human nature and fairly preserve the fine line between life and death. As such, 1957’s 12 Angry Men does not fail in its deliberation.

Author Believes Marijuana Legalization Should Proceed Carefully
Marijuana legalization can engender an image of the drug’s laid back disciples who will tend their little plots around daily smokes circles, while lamenting the loss of the counterculture. Then waiting to exhale just after 4:20 p.m. every day, plenty of time shall be left to bag their haul to a local retailer who’s eager to dispense peace and contentment, as both remember to stick it to the man for old time’s sake. That is just one of the marijuana myths author Kevin Sabet was trying to dispel for students, staff and law enforcement this Thursday at Fox Lane High School as the nation seems poised to enact a retail sale legalization of marijuana.

Encompassing the sexual depravity, Telly’s HIV positive pursuit of any virgin he can bed practically smothers the viewer and demands whether such a mindset actually prevailed amongst the Washington Square Skateboarding scene it was based.

Me, My Dad and 'Late Night with David Letterman'
Maybe David Letterman is following the comedic party line by deferring all praise but his farewell only fuels my suspicion that he has no idea how much he means to us out here who live for late night talk shows. The laughter a given, its delivery amounts to an incalculable debt that I wish I could pay in full to ease the self-doubt and diminish the burden he seems to carry.

Richard Linklater’s 'Boyhood' Left Out the Boy in Coming of Age Movie
Boyhood was 12 years in the making. Imagine embarking on a film project that adheres to the pace of real life, while actually holding onto all the actors through their own travails. Kudos are certainly warranted for Richard Linklater and a coming of age cast in for the long haul. Still, I hated this movie.

'Arrival' Gives Plenty to Ponder, but Possibly Misguides on Alien Purpose
A writer, I am poor. This means I get my Science Fiction Movies free from the library, and Arrival is only a three day loan. No time to watch it twice, this movie requires another viewing, and a two dollar a day fine would eat up all my profits. I also don’t feel like enduring three weeks on the waiting list to get the chance to contemplate its depth and give a full accounting. I don’t want you to wait either. So here it goes.

Near Miss in 'Sully' Takes You for a Fake News Ride on the Hudson
If you don’t have a problem with Hollywood turning nothing into something then Sully is a pretty entertaining movie that adds even more to the our hero’s legend. But I couldn’t help feeling jaded as the “nothing” in question seemed grossly over dramatized, and I came away feeling mostly empty of the contrived effort to drive the plot with a format that would make fake news proud.
