Lasers at Dawn: As Good as Therapy. Top Story - November 2021.
You've probably heard a lot of different things about rave culture— eccentric people wearing wild outfits dancing in darkened rooms filled with booming bass, lasers, and ardent drug-fueled energy... as much as there is to be said about stereotypes in how the scene is depicted by mainstream culture, that's not the story I'm here to share today. I'm here to share the story of how the admittedly eccentric but often misrepresented scene made a lasting impact on my life journey.

REVIEW: HBO's Brutal Takedown of Woodstock 99
In the summer of 1999, I bought myself a ticket to go see the most talked about event of the year. And what a way to end the millennium it was going to be. Rage Against the Machine? Limp Bizkit? Sevendust? Metallica? Korn? Tragically Hip? The Offspring? All on one weekend? Yes, please! Off to Woodstock 99 I went.

LATITUDE
I'm not going to lie. A week prior I was practically shitting myself with anxiety. What if I get Covid, again. It wasn't pretty. I have just had the one jab, thus far. Will it be enough? Can I rough it at my age? I do have a bad back! And a great many other ailments a good massage won't relieve. Not to mention the mood of a honey-badger with an itchy arse.

The Electric Daisy Carnival
The Electric Daisy Carnival Last Friday in Las Vegas we met with police, firefighters, doctors, and other officials involved in the festival to plan details around the festival. As of today, Clark County has adopted a reopening program that requires 60% of Clark County residents to be vaccinated before restrictions can be lifted at major events such as the EDC. Clark County, home of the EDC and Las Vegas Motor Speedway, has welcomed the reopening program. The rate at which people are vaccinated against the EDC is within our control.

Tomorrowland Music Festival
Since its humble beginning in 2005, the Belgian festival has risen sharply, as the venue has become a series of objects and sounds that evoke a sense of great architecture, great work, and a sense of belonging. Spread over two weekends, more than a million visitors visited the 2019 program.

Polite Exorcism: Laurie Anderson at Théatre Rialto (Montreal)
It ended with a hug. I should build up to this, so let me explain: on a Wednesday night during the city’s annual Pop Montreal festival, Laurie Anderson, accompanied on stage by Rebecca Foon and Colin Stetson, dry ice, programmed noises and odd sonic textures, performed a set at Theatre Rialto that felt more cathartic than most other concerts I have attended in this city. Some performances do leave you wanting more. The performance at the Rialto felt like an exorcism where the demons knew they had to run.

Life is Made of Small Moments Like This
“It’s finally here,” I thought to myself as I laced up my Dr. Marten boots and fastened my face gems, a soft smile on my face, just before heading out of the hotel with all of my closest friends. We had come from all over the tristate area to be together for our favorite weekend of the year in the big Apple. Electric Zoo weekend had just begun.

Hello May, Beltane and Jordan Reyne
It is an incredibly bright and sunny morning, though as I am writing this I am not sure what the temperature is like outside , although I will know by the time I finish this. I have been out and though it is clouding over it seems that winter has truly been banished and spring is moving towards summer, so weatherwise we are in a more clement atmosphere a;lthough there are still some dark clouds overhead , but as long as they wait until tonight before drenching us that will be fine.

Shambhala
I know a place where we can frolic like elves in an open field of wonders, where we can dance like the faeries in the warmth of our evening gowns when the heat turns to dew. I know a place where the woodland creatures come out to play in the midst of the night, and mermaids glisten in the rays of the day. Where giants roam the grounds on stilts, bees buzz in mystical gardens of colors, and butterflies flutter around the free-thinking spirits who lay napping under the Wishing Tree. I know a place where you can find hidden doors, that lead to abandoned, un-melodious pianos where the goblins perch by the "Poe-tree", dazzling with poems galore, and touched by the energy of all the joyful walker-by’s. I know a place where you're free to be yourself and be who you want to be, real or not, and no one could nor would bat an eye; a place so beyond this realm its hard to believe it’s existence is among this world. I know a place we can escape, a place we can all call home.
