Top 10 Verzuz Battles That Will Never Happen
One of the greatest things to come out of 2020 was Verzuz TV. This webcast series was created by producers Timbaland and Swizz Beats to highlight and celebrate Black music. Since March of last year, the world has gotten to see artists like BabyFace and Teddy Riley, Gladys Knight and Patti Labelle, and Brandy and Monica go head to head via Instagram Live and/or Apple TV. And while there are many great Verzuz battles that the world has been anticipating, some of the greatest battles are the ones we will never get to see because one or more of the parties involved are no longer living. But thanks to technology, we can guess what these battles would have been like. Here are the top 10 Verzuz battles that we will never get to see and some of the songs that undoubtedly would have made an appearance in them.

I Listened to "Temporary Secretary" by Paul McCartney for Five Hours and Had a Brilliantly Miserable Time
I’ve begun to believe of late that Paul McCartney is immortal, if not by natural means, then by supernatural means in the very least. In some form or another, Paul McCartney petitioned some eldritch being to grant him eternal life. It’s in the science, and I can prove it. Take a moment to listen to Temporary Secretary by the aforementioned Beatle. Go on. I’ll wait. Now tell me, after listening to that song just once, that the only reason that it exists isn’t to come in contact with some creature from the deepest, darkest recesses of the human psyche, in a plane of existence beyond our very observation. Somehow, Paul McCartney tapped into there, and-

An Imaginary Soundtrack to 2020
This playlist was a tough one to whittle down, but I eventually settled on the following selection of 66 songs, each from a different artist, ranging across a wide array of genres and moods. I arranged them into this very particular order that you see here, as a means of creating a good tonal ebb and flow, and also finding decent matches between the end of one song, and the beginning of the next. However, you can always play it on shuffle mode, and it ought to work just fine. I hope you enjoy...

20 Glee Songs That Accurately Describe 2020
People have always had mixed feelings about Glee and the music from the show, but for me, Glee was one of the simple pleasures that got me through 2020. Working and doing school from home gave me a lot more free time and Glee and its music was there to motivate me, distract me, and give me something to smile about when almost nothing else did.

Edge of ‘21
If you’re reading this, you got through 2020 somehow. What did it for you? Was it looking towards the next year, the future? Was it focusing on the things that make you feel most comfortable? Was it exploring your creative outlets? It was probably a combination of all of these things. A lot of us spent this year “hiding”; hiding from the plague, hiding from our feelings, hiding from responsibility. One of the easiest ways to hide is to escape, and escaping is best done through media: television, movies, music, etc.

I’m an Old White Dude Who Loves K-Pop Music
Yes, it’s true. I love K-pop, even though it’s highly unusual for someone in my baby boomer generation to get into that kind of music. Plus, it’s mostly sung in the Korean language, but with some English interspersed here and there. But the dancing, oh, the dancing. It’s so exciting to watch the amazingly choreographed dance routines, which are fun and entertaining as accompaniments to the songs.

10 Songs Covers that Don't Exist
Whether you love it or hate it when musicians cover other artists songs, it's been a long-going tradition ever since the music industry begun. Covers are everywhere through Youtube videos, karaoke nights and your local church session. There are good covers and bad covers. A good cover will bring a whole new life into a song like Placebo's cover of Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill. It can even make people forget that it's a cover at all like Sinead O'Connor's Nothing Compares 2 U.
