Well Prepared This Time
I was in Grade 1, very small and shy girl who joined the class mid-way through the year. I had never participated in any school games nor heard the sound of a starter pistol before. The school's sports carnival week began and all the school kids made their way down to the playing field for track events to begin. My class was signaled out for a short distance race so our class teacher got everyone of us onto the starting line. "Ready ... get set,"... "BANG!" .... I got a shock of my life and almost ran away to take cover! Supporters including my teacher screamed and told me to run towards the finishing line with the rest. By the time I realized what had happened, it was too late. Everyone was already running so I followed. I came last and cried bitterly on my dad's lap. Hehehe. Such is life.
