Secrets
Second Time Around
"When I wake up in the mornin' love", the words of Bill Withers broke the still of the morning as I reached for my phone to silence the alarm. Usually, those words were comforting, but not today. There was no way I was ready to face this milestone. Snooze, yes, that's it, a few more minutes before I must face the reality of another birthday, snooze. If only I could put this day on snooze.

Coming Home Early
George stopped and stared at his front door, taking in all the details. The purple paint that his wife had insisted upon was beginning to show signs of wear. The edges were peeling ever so lightly, dirt and grime had built up around the handle. The brass door knocker was beginning to tarnish as well. George hated this door. He had not wanted a purple door, to him it was obnoxious and gaudy. His wife Emily had informed him he was wrong and simply did not understand these kinds of things and in the end he had relented. He admittedly had no eye for décor, but it still did not mean he had to like it.

The Groundbreaking Part
Friday morning “Please direct your attention to our latest subject. Jessica Johnson, age 29, a computer programmer, who lives alone. It appears that she has been in a romantic comedy vortex for the past couple of days. This sadly is not an isolated incident. Her mother/the person funding this case, Mae Johnson, says that Jessica has been telling her she’s dedicating time to herself” snickered the newest Director of the Should’ve Been Married Already department of Those in Need Inc. “Let’s not laugh, people. I know it is a comical and common excuse, but let’s get back to work. This poor woman is running out of time.”

My Experience With Paid Companionship.
Lights, camera, end. I became so blitzed in my own glamour and fortune, I never thought about the end too suddenly or harshly, until it became a reality. We both wore masks and we both built an illusion, I was surprised it lasted as long as it did. During what I should have known to be our last vacation, he only came to me for a quick fuck and he wouldn’t speak to me like he used to. I sat, watching the seasons change trying to ignore the dissolution feeling he was giving me.

Top 5 Essential Thrift-finds Found Whilst Shopping at Thrift-stores
I have always been an avid fan of thrift-finds at thrift-stores. I remember when I was a little girl, my mother would wake me up early in the morning, ask me to get dressed, slip into my flimsy pair of sandals, finish the milk and bread roll, while she finishes her coffee too. After that quick breakfast, she grabs the basket with her right hand, and grabs my tiny hand with her left hand and then off to market we go.

Run!
Have you ever been to prison? Unfortunately for me, I have! 688 days, but who’s counting? Today is my 8th anniversary of freedom, 04/01/13. I wish this was a joke, APRIL FOOLS, but it's not. April won't commemorate my marriage, the day I got clean, or spring break. The only shower that April brings is rein over my release date. Yeah, so today definitely marked a milestone and before I go further I have to say: a limited 5,000 words really steals the justice from my story, but I will give it my damnedest!

Toast to the Queen
'Spell 24 -- When reality walks in a stranger.../ Face, eyes and voice far away so foreign/ And your heart and mind fill with such danger/ Fearing they will overrule you then will reign./ Energy in you must overpower/ Tame the beauty and beast to make them meek!/ Or failing, lock them in a high tower/ Until yielding and forgiveness do seek. /Pierce your heart, blood from right middle finger./ A drop in a drink should be kept hidden./ Speak slow and low their name as lips linger./ Be assured they drink as common heathen./ A wonderful witch magic spell to whine / Drinking a glass of blood red Merlot wine...'

I Didn't Have Sex with My Husband for 10 Years
Sex is something that most people take for granted — especially when they are in a relationship. They assume that their partner will have sex with them on at least a semi-regular basis. They believe that sex will be something they have access to for the duration of their relationship.

Grey Gifts
Two were the color white, with scattered shades of charcoal in between. One was your typical dark brown while the last was a hybrid of the two, but they all indicated good health so I wasn’t concerned. All were hardened to some degree, laying on a bed of synthetic green blades, partially shaded by a combination of this black metal folding chair with the cheapest plastic laundry basket on top that was procured from some low end store awhile back. These gifts were dropped off by someone that I cared very deeply for and were for me alone to pick up at some point in time, but I thought to myself, that was not this current one.
