Reason First: The Death Nurse- Genene Jones
Killing babies who are absolutely defenseless and have no clue about the world is particularly heinous. What Genene Jones of San Antonio, Texas did from 1981 to 1982 was to spike the amount of infant deaths in the hospital she worked. As a licensed vocational nurse (LVN), she was supposed to take care of these young children in desperate need. Instead, she subverted that call to action and pumped the infants full of lethal doses of drugs, causing them to have heart attacks, or stop breathing.

Reason First: The Unabomber- Dr. Theodore Kaczynski
Leopold and Loeb and Edmund Kemper dispel the myth that clever killers don’t exist. Dr. Theodore John Kacynski is no different. Named the “Unabomber” from “UNinversity, and Airline BOMber,” from an FBI profile of UNABOM for the unknown bomber, Kaczynski started creating explosive materials in the 1970s, but would evade identification and capture until 1995 when Kaczynski’s own brother alerted authorities after he noticed the bomber’s handwriting, used to draft a manifesto, matched his brother’s.

Around the 1880s, when Jack the Ripper's killings were terrifying the people of London, Americans thought they were safe, but they didn’t know that a mad doctor was on a killing spree. He was the “Holmes” Sir Arthur Conan Doyle warned us about, as Dr. Watson hinted in one of his journals that it's a blessing that Sherlock Holmes decided to use his powers to solve the crimes and what an amazing criminal he would have become if he decided to go against the law. H. H. Holmes was the latter one.

Reason First: The .44 Caliber Killer- David Berkowitz
David Berkowitz appeared sane when he stood trial in the state of New York for killing six people and wounding seven others. Initially, he denied being in his right mind, and claimed a Satanic cult made him do it, and that a neighbor’s dog told him to kill. But Berkowitz demonstrated a better than average grasp on reality when questioned about the public’s fascination with killers such as himself. He said we all have the capacity to kill other human beings; anyone angry or frustrated enough had the potential to do “horrendous things,” he said. He said Western civilization was declining towards anarchy, and he was doing his victims a favor. Painting himself as their deliverer from a collapsing society, he argued he was sparing them the mayhem of the coming apocalypse. Whether he sincerely believed his dire predictions is irrelevant; no matter how justified his pessimism about the future might have been (especially in hindsight), he had no right to appoint himself “Angel of Mercy” for the people of New York.
