A Fraudster, A Torturer, A 'Gaslighter' And A Murderer - This 'Friend' Was Not Who He Seemed
A younger person getting together with an older (and often, more affluent) person and wanting to get their hands on the older person's money is nothing new. We have terms for it, like 'gold-digger'. What makes this story rather more unusual is the sheer, contemptuous and unalloyed greed, coupled to the heartless contempt. It seems that Field's victims meant nothing to him at all.

Reason First: When Compassion is Omitted- The Boston Strangler Case
Mystery once abounded in the case of the “Boston Strangler” during the early 1960’s. Around the time of the crimes, authorities lacked any physical evidence linking the crime to Albert DeSalvo, the killer they ultimately convicted. He didn’t even fit the name. Monikers like “The Green Man” and “The Measuring Man” applied to him. So, there was still a cloud of uncertainty hanging over a case involving the deaths of thirteen women. Imagine the terror these women faced right before DeSalvo snuffed out their lives. DeSalvo’s level of irrationality must have been high. To not think about anything beyond extinguishing the very lives he held in his hands, made him an animal.

Fetal Abduction Survivor: Teka Adams
One of the most intriguing cases I've covered is that of Teka Adams, a survivor of an attempted fetal abduction. Teka Adams was coaxed into an apartment under the false pretense of being able to pick out baby items for her unborn child. In the days following, she was held against her will, stabbed, and underwent a botched attempt to remove her baby from her womb.

“Eccentric” Professor Mummified 26 Dead Girls and Turned Them Into Dolls
Anatoly Moskvin’s obsession with death led him to bring the dead home with him. Yet, no one knew for years, not even his parents. His story and crimes beg the question: where is the line between “genius” and just plain “madness?”

The ‘Lone Actor’ Terrorism Attacks No One Can Prevent
On a warm and pleasant evening in June 2020, dozens of people were relaxing in Forbury Gardens, a park in Reading, England. People were sitting on the grass, in small groups of friends. Some were drinking a beer or a glass of wine: Some were having a picnic. England was gradually coming out of Covid-19 lockdown, and people were enjoying their renewed freedom. There had been a ‘Black Lives Matter’ event in the park earlier that day, and some people in the park had been in attendance.

Martin Shkreli and the Failure of Capitalist “Justice”
The news is abuzz with tales of justice. Martin Shkreli, the vulture capitalist that everyone loves to hate, has finally been convicted and sent to jail. But this conviction has taken place years after the crimes that Shkreli committed. More than simply a result of the slow process of the court system, Shkreli was at first somewhat insulated from the consequences of his massive price hike for the anti-retroviral drug Daraprim, from about $12 per pill, to about $750 per pill. Obviously, this makes Daraprim literally unaffordable for most AIDS-infected people, but this was not the crime that Shkreli was convicted of, and that is precisely the problem.

Mikhail Popkov: Why is This Russian Serial Killer Cop Known as 'The Werewolf'?
Mikhail Popkov is a relatively new serial killer to enter the hall of reprobate murderers, having been apprehended in June of 2012. In case you couldn't tell by his name, he was a Russian serial killer. Active between 1992 and (possibly) 2012, Popkov was successfully convicted of 78 murders, although he apparently confessed to over 80. Mikhail Popkov is interesting for another reason, too: He used to be a police officer.

True Story - The real story of Collar Bomb Heist 2003
A middle-aged pizza shipper named Brian Wells walked into a PNC bank in Erie, Pennsylvania on August 28, 2003. His right hand had a small cane, and under the collar of his T-shirt was a peculiar bulge. Wells, 46 and balding, handed a note to the teller. "Gather workers with vault access codes and work quickly to fill the $250,000 bag," it said. "You just have 15 minutes." Then he lifted his shirt to expose a bulky box-like gadget hanging from his throat. It was a bomb, according to the note.
