COVID-19 and the Caregiver
Let me tell you a story about the time that I was a caregiver for both of my parents from a past flu season (Mom passed in 2017, and Papa followed her the following year). I will preface by saying that both of my parents had their flu shots a month and a half prior to this particular incident. I did not because those flu shots knock me out for a while, and as the sole breadwinner of the family, I couldn’t afford that at the time.

Stay at Home, Working Mom
Congratulations on being a mother! We can all agree that this is one of the hardest, but rewarding jobs a woman can have! When my son was born, I instantly had a desire to give him everything in the world. I wanted to be a stay at home mom. Unfortunately, I was a single parent in a sticky financial situation. I was fresh out of high school and still working in the food industry. Lucky for me, God answered prayer and soon I was home full time with my son, and earning a salary!

Languages Are Not an Issue, But a Tool: Multilingual Children Know How to Use Them
Mamma, mangiamo un gelato? My children are asking me; then, my husband answers Welk ijsje willen jullie? Our kids promptly answer back Wij willen een chocolade ijsje! My husband and I agree to go to eat an ice cream because, as we are on vacation, we are not so strict about junk food.

Struggling with the future
Recently our children had a moment of crisis, well not a real crisis, it was more of an anxiety attack. Over what you may ask? Well, it was about the future. All three of our children are now teenagers, two of them are in high school and one is in middle school [his last year].

Goggles Or No Goggles — That Is the Question.
Should we get our child goggles? The short answer to this is — it depends. There honestly isn’t a “right” answer here, this is highly subjective and you should consult your swim teacher if you’re concerned. There are arguments for and against goggles in swim lessons and it will all depend on you, your child, and your goals.

Safe Ways To Encourage Your Child's Swimming Hobby
As children grow and begin to test the waters of ways to entertain themselves, it is natural for a few ideas to come into question that a parent may not love. Whether it be an artsier choice or more sports-related, like swimming, it is in your instincts as a caregiver to worry about possible injury or other risks. It is easy to be fearful of your child enjoying water activities, but considering how great of a hobby it can be, there are a few ways you can encourage your kid to do things safely.

Wasted Years....
Retiring and relocating to North Las Vegas, Nevada in 2004 was something we looked forward to and planned accordingly. We moved into a new, but rapidly growing community. Our lives in Whittier, California were quite different; I worked full time in LaCanada, California and my husband owned his business in Santa Fe Springs, California. Our hours were quite different, we always ate dinner together, but our work hours varied. Our together time was a few hours in the evening and great weekends. When not working, we were always together...but also separate.
