Nine Kids and Painting
I am impulsive. I don’t think of it as some massive character flaw, honestly, it’s a gift. I wouldn’t be who I am today, with the fantastic life I have, without the gift of impulsiveness. My husband is the opposite of impulsive. Information that shocks no one, I am sure, since this is the way things usually go. The jump-into-the-deep-end gal ends up with the think-through-every-possible-outcome-ten-times guy, right? I decided a few days ago that I needed to paint my kitchen cabinets. In my mind, I would go to the store, pick out a good color, bring it home and go to town. After all, I had already pinned several dozen inspirational color ideas to my “kitchen” board. What more do you need?

Turning a Wall into a Window
A wail of distress broke the nighttime silence of our little home and I forced one heavy eye open to check the time on my phone. 2am. It was the middle of the night going into my 31st birthday, but as I glanced across the bed to my husband who had to get up for work at 5, I knew I would have to be the one to answer the call of our insistent, nocturnal two-year-old. It turned out that his middle-of-the-night emergency was that a favorite toy had dropped off the side of his crib, out of reach, and he was inconsolable. I held his sobbing little body close and rocked him back and forth in the golden glow of his nightlight, thinking how desperately I wanted to be sleeping and how this wasn’t my idea of a great start to a birthday. But I looked at the blank wall above his crib and started to think again on the scene I planned to paint there and I began to calm, even as he did.

Happy Birthday Flowers For Your Loved one
Roses and flowers can be used for an extended period to express our love and sincerity toward those we care about. Selection will always be a challenge that a person must keep in mind, or bouquet is according to the recipient's will. There is no comparison of feeling when someone gives you flowers or bouquets; it always feels tremendous, either receiving or giving.

If These Walls Could Talk.
Everybody knows the old saying, “A home is a man’s castle”. Our homes bring us sanctuary, peace, comfort. Unfortunately, many have felt the opposite at times within their domicile. At times, it can feel like a prison. I think it’s safe to say, during quarantine, many of us truly felt that our homes were confining walls and claustrophobic prisons. The same sights, day in and day out, aggravating holed up minds and bodies.

How to put together a challenging project
I’m here again, laying in bed, watching tv and looking at the ceiling. The fan is not on this time. Kinda cool for the staying of summer. My mind wonders about a project I wanted to do for my son. A legacy for him to keep and proudly show it to his family and why not- his wife’s family. I wanted to write a book where nice, attracting characteristics of an specific area where known, and why not the well known ones. It is going to be something different. A family tree inspired. It didn’t include the usual tree or those plain boring excel type graph format.

Tucked Away in a Pillow
Six years ago, I visited the Suzhou silk factory. It was an easy train ride from Shanghai, China where I had arrived a few days prior from sunny California. I was visiting my good friend Lara and able to travel like a local, seeing the unique hidden gems that the country has to offer.

Thrift Store Bliss
Off to the local Salvation Army Thrift Store to donate three large cardboard boxes bulging over with quality and useable clothing for some new person or persons to purchase and enjoy. Wow does it feel amazing to free up our bedroom closet from excess clothing that we just do not have all the room for, nor do we no longer need so many pieces of clothing.

The Hands of My Mother
The hands of my Mother, and those of my Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, were never still. Gardening, canning, sewing clothes, quilting and crocheting, among all the mundane tasks, meant that every day needs were met. It also meant beauty, comfort and contentment, scattered throughout the days making the memories that are a part of the fabric of who I am.
