Guilty Giving Kids Screen-time To Get Things Done? You’re not alone.
I hear you, Mommy and Daddy. Both of you work hard to give your kids a better life. You try to get down nutritious breakfast on the table for the kids, even though you tend to skip breakfast and plan on having a brunch later because you’re late. You drop off your kid(s) to preschool or school and drive off to your workplace. You often think about what your child is doing at school and whether he/she has had lunch. You fear that the lunch box is coming back half-eaten or worse untouched because your child does not eat without watching that favorite cartoon.

COVID-Schooling How-To Guide
As a mom who has two children and has run her own daycare in the past, never did I think to myself, “Gee, I want to be a teacher.” Nope, never thought that not even once. But the year is 2021 (2020 part II), where every day is like “opposite day” and nothing makes sense anymore. I was working still when school started back up and had made the decision to have my oldest do virtual learning because I felt she was responsible enough to do so since she is 12 years old. The youngest's school wanted to make it difficult for her to do, so I just pulled her from school, “Like, that's fine, I'll just homeschool her, no big deal”, right? I was homeschooled for the better part of my childhood, so I have some context of how it works. When I tell you I bit off more than I could chew, I'm not kidding.

How to take care of your family's mental health in difficult times
Here we are again, still. I’m looking at the same four walls, the same four faces – if you include the one I see in the mirror each morning. Lockdowns may be helping reduce the numbers of COVID-19 infections, but they prioritise physical health over mental health.

How to Create a Legacy Box
When I woke up on February 5, 2020, I had no idea that by 5:00 pm I would get a call from my tearful uncle and a somber ER nurse begging me to come to New York as soon as I could, or that I would drive seven hours through a blinding snowstorm to get there, knowing only that Mom might be dead before I arrived.

Lessons from a Gambling Family
My mom grew up going to Las Vegas with her sisters and parents. Once the family grew, my cousins and I grew up going to Vegas. We also grew up gambling on Loteria (Mexican bingo), playing scratchers, and knowing that superstitions are personal for what works for you.

Going Zero Waste while living with your parents
While studying Urban Sustainability at the University of the District of Columbia, we took an online quiz to check our ecological footprint was. The way it calculates is how many Earths you need if everyone lived the same lifestyle as you do. My results showed that if everyone had my lifestyle, 1.75 Earth would be required to sustain our current population. That's impossible, and I decided to make lifestyle changes to do more for our environment. The catch was, I still live at home, so just me changing my lifestyle wouldn't be as beneficial as my household adapting and evolving.
