While growing up in the 90s my favorite Disney movie was undoubtedly The Little Mermaid. It was released in 1989, and it was the first movie I saw in the theater. The Little Mermaid was my life. I knew all the songs. I had an Ariel doll and birthday cake. I wanted to be Ariel. I dreamed of being a mermaid when I went to the beach with my cousins, talked about Ariel nonstop, I even named my little brother Erick after the Prince. My brother is still sore over this, and he is in his 20s. Get the point? I was obsessed.

I'm So Glad It's Over
Game of Thrones. GoT, or whatever you want to call it. I suspect that I won’t be winning any monetary rewards or any kind of recognition for this article because this article does NOT praise Game of Thrones. I loathed it. Now fans of the show will say that it’s because it’s not like The Lord of the Rings—well, of course it’s not like Lord of the Rings—and let’s face it, Aragorn is so perfect that the reader often feels the need for a vomit bag, and Tolkien’s own relationship with women is certainly a bone of contention; after all he subscribed to the pale, passive heroine languishing upon a daybed in the Lord of the Rings, although he does write better fleshed-out heroines in The Silmarillion in both Elwing and Luthien. No, it’s the fact that his heroes are not just deeply flawed, but that they act on these flaws. Ned Stark killing Sansa’s direwolf because he can’t kill Arya’s—and instead of doing the right thing, he does the easy thing. This man is the Hand of the King for God’s sake! There are a myriad of other things he could have done, but instead he chooses to do his duty—and for what? Does it improve relationships with Cersei? Does it improve the relationship with his daughter? I would say "no" on both counts. Now that’s he’s betrayed his daughter to obey his Queen, Cersei knows that Eddard Stark will put duty before anything else, which means she knows exactly which buttons to push.

The 2010s Will Be Remembered As the Sequel Era of Pixar
When you look back with hindsight at a franchise that has had many releases, it gets easier to divide the history of its releases into eras. Pixar has released 21 feature-length films since 1995. Some might say that one era ended in 2006 when Pixar was acquired by Disney. But I believe that when one takes a look at what's been released so far, they could divide it up into two major eras, the latter of which is comprised solely of the 2010s. With this decade almost over, I believe that we can firmly refer to this era as The Sequel Era of Pixar.

'The Parcast Network'
For the past two years, I have been listening to a podcast network that is as diverse as it is interesting. The Parcast Network started back in 2016 as a series of true crime podcasts that are professionally produced and presented. Starting with Unsolved Murders, the network now has some 22 individual podcast series that range from true crime, history, science, and the paranormal. Moreover, it continues to grow, the latest show is The Dark Side Of... It doesn't look like Parcast will stop growing anytime soon.

Robert Massimi. The Ensemble Studio Theatre (EST), has been putting on one act plays since 1977. Inspired by the likes of Tennessee Williams and Eugene O'Neill, new and established writers are brought together on one stage. A favorite of both audiences and actors alike, EST has three series this year. The one acts are a biennial event and has this year has some fantastic shorts.
