Can You Hear ME
The thumping was never ending, it was only the beginning. I sat in the chair in the corner of my office one morning, I had to be at work at nine o’clock all though I had arrived on time, my boss was apparently angry about something and let me have it. I was sure that I was not late, nor did I know if I did anything wrong the day prior, but still, the hounding was relentless, and I felt like I was the only one who was receiving the wrong end of the horns.

Wraith of Wrath, Part I
Have you ever heard the phrase, "Nothing good ever happens after 3 AM"? Well, it rings so very true, especially for those of us who have to deal with the paranormal. Have you ever woken up in a cold sweat, heart racing, mouth dry, almost as if you had just run the longest marathon ever? It happened to me, and whether you believe in ghosts or not, this story is quite a chilling one regardless of what you may or may not believe in.

Black Gold
t was 1870, after my Pa did his bit for Old Man Lincoln, he got himself a small farm out in Wyoming territory, it was me, my Pa, my ma, and my sister. We worked hard, but the land was ours. Things went normally till a stranger came calling one unseasonably warm December night. He came riding to our farmstead on a horse blacker than the deepest midnight, though it didn’t seem to gallop it was more a glide, and when he strode up to our front door the animals kicked up an awful racket, I suppose in hindsight we should have heeded their warning. But my ole Pa, ever the gentleman he went and invited the stranger in with no hesitation. He gave me the willies so ikept my distance, still though when My ma took his coat, i noticed the way he stared at her and my sister, like a starved wolf eyeing up a particularly fat sheep that had strayed off too far from the herd. It sent a cold shiver down my spine. But before I could raise up a voice to protest, my pa hurried us out of the room saying that grown folks had business to discuss.

Gerry’s adventure
Gerald was unlike the other High School kids around him. While many looked for local work like stocking supplies at a grocery store, helping in farmers' fields, or punching the clock at a factory in order to have spending money, Gerald, or Gerry to his friends, was more interested in opportunities that existed on the other side of the skyline, beyond the vast, golden prairie that surrounded him. He often saw cars drive over the horizon and wondered where they were going, what they were doing. Curiosity was in his nature.

Three Paces
There was little to be said about the slab of stone that stood at her feet. A green tinge had coated the outside of the stone, reaching up from the ground in thick tentacles of vines and moss, algae and other plant matter. These vivid green tendrils slowly faded as the stone stretched aware from the ground, fading into a deep grey. It was an unmarked stone. Or at least, she wishes it was. The earth was so clearly trying to reclaim this stone that stood before her, the plant life a sign that of the shame mother nature felt towards what she had created, what she had allowed to step foot upon her soil. But that is the point, is it not? To remember. The pain that we feel, the anguish that we toil in, to see that things within this world can not only be bad. They can be worse. They can dig into the tired outstretched threads of our soul trying to hold together all that we care for, all those we hold dear. And it pulls. It tears. It stretches you so thinly that you can’t hide your pain, and in the same breath you cannot reveal it to the world. If you try to fight against it, the pain will resist. Sometimes it resists a little less and for a brief moment you can feel a bit more whole. Other times the pain resists harder than you can ever hope to pull and new tears open up. And now the core of your soul is bared to the world, not out of desperation or choice, but out of the sheer rupture of your humanity as all your failed hopes and dreams and all your losses are laid bare and then immediately washed away by the scorn of those who cannot be asked to understand what you lost, nor can you ask them to.

Eating my experiences (27)
TOME 34 Mel lavished me in comforts I had long let go of, a proper bed in a warm room and fresh food. I nearly got lost in her charm before I went to visit Alex, who was kept in a windowless room away from all others. He had his hands bound and slept on a concrete floor. I rushed to his side, my new dress trailing behind me across the floor. Alex was under a thin cotton cloth shivering in the cold.
