Pop culture for horror junkies; all about the famous films, creepypasta tales, trends and tropes that bled from the fringes of fright into the macabre mainstream.
'Nothing Scares Me Anymore'
Blood, guts, demons, or ghosts, the content doesn't seem to matter. People can't enjoy horror films the way we once did. And it's our own fault. Thanks in part to social media, we experience a near-constant stimulation of the reward-center in our brains which could easily be a leading factor... BUT the causes might even be simpler than that. More often than not we're turning to streaming sites and their original shows for our horror fix, but we're still here, still craving shivers. With over-advertising from production companies, overwhelming music, and chaotic realities, humanity at large is unable to enjoy horror these days.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
It's coming up on the forty year anniversary; with so many horror films/characters that have come and gone since then, in my opinion there is still none better than Freddy Krueger! Over the years I have very seldom come across a horror fan who didn't like NOES, but I've always wondered if they understood the subtleties of what made Freddy such a terrifying presence. What makes him so damn scary?

Zombies
The term zombie comes from Haitian folklore, and a zombie is usually a dead body that has been reanimated by various methods, in most cases, magic is used. In modern times a resurrected dead body is often referred to as a zombie, but does not necessarily have to be resurrected using magic, zombies are most commonly found in the genres of horror and fantasy.

The History on the Genre of Horror
When we hear the word horror, we automatically think of scary movies or playing a prank on your friends to scare them. We also think that horror is just a genre that is used in many fictional stories during a sleepover or a campout in the woods over a fire. However, what is the true meaning of the word horror and how do previous and current creators of horror stories try to get you to have goosebumps on your arms. The term horror means an overwhelming and painful feeling caused by something frightfully shocking, terrifying, or revolting; a shuddering fear (Dictionary). However, how has horror changed over the years and what was the difference between horror back then and now? We will be looking into three types or places where we will find horror: Literature, movies, and real life horror. I hope by the end of this essay, you will have a better understanding of the genre of horror and why we have it.

Junji Ito has entertained us with eerie ideas of the world around us to rethink what we never fathomed to fear. In the genre of horror, there are many ways to elaborate on some form of fear or terror. Remember, you may not believe it, but anything is possible in a world so seriously strange.
Seriously Strange is one of my favorite content from the Youtuber Rob Gavagan (originally he was known as Rob Dyke, but due to legal actions, he had to change it.) If you are looking for videos on Horror/fear with a hit of comedy, then check out Seriously Strange. On this channel, there are episodes on true crime murders, disappearances, most evil people in the world, or bizarre crimes scene.

Vandalism Reaching Iconic Ghost Town
Vandalism and theft has reached this small iconic ghost town just about an hour outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. In Nevada sets Nelson's Ghost Town, an eclectic spot to photograph and see some very unique items. Here you will find two planes that were crashed and now are being preserved, one with its tail up, and another missing an entire wing. You'll also find lots of old cars and some unique buses or conversions along with some interesting buildings. These buildings are homes to even more eclectic and unique items and rooms which are fun to see and great for photography. The trade of here is that you pay to visit the property since it is private and you must be aware at all times about rattlesnakes that are indigenous to the area. Because of these unique items and scenery, Nelson has been a popular spot to shoot music videos (Journey has been one) and movies. Now sadly, this beautiful location has been reduced in size because of vandalism and theft.

Why do we love Horror?
Pulse racing, heart pounding. You lay awake, your thoughts racing. Your stomach flutters uneasily. In any other circumstance, you’d be worried about your symptoms; yet these are all things we can look forward to after watching a particularly good horror film. We (almost) all love a good scare, but why is that? What blurs the lines between fear and entertainment? We like watching horror films simply because it's entertaining. It acts as a means to fend off boredom. Scary movies are something you either really love or avoid at all costs. Logically, we should be running away from things that induce fear. But horror movies have a way of drawing a lot of people in. It's a little confusing if you stop and think about it, but horror entertainment is a very popular genre. According to research and experts, there are a few different reasons behind why people like scary movies. people watch scary movies for three main reasons: tension, relevance, and unreal ism. For some, watching scary movies can be an entire experience due to the mystery and the shock. Others who are drawn to it due to "relevance," find elements in the movie that they can relate to. Those who like horror due to its "unreal ism" enjoy it because they know for a fact that it's all fake anyway. For them, it's just pure entertainment and fun.

HORROR MOVIES: IS THE FRANCHISE DYING? OR, MAKING A KILLING?
Perhaps, one of the most popular genres in The film industry is HORROR movies. Whether it’s the new faces of whore or classic characters being remade for audiences, it’s not hard to see why. In the past couple of years there have been new faces of her added to the genre as well as remakes of classic movies. However, Do they live up to their predecessors? Personally one of my mottos is “Life’s no fun without a good scare!” a line that pays homage to Tim Burton’s 1993 Classic Film THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, but I suppose you might say, “That’s a Ghost of a different color.”
