Lupine Feast
There was only one rule: don’t open the door. The sign was posted above the frame. Huge letters -crimson, black. Smeared, grainy; indelible. My erstwhile host had disappeared. Like a phantasm he had appeared in the forest just as I thought I would surely die in this god forsaken wilderness.

The Final Nail
There was only one rule: Don’t open the door. I repeated that warning in my mind, as I wandered through the moldy tunnels of the dark wine cellar. Stagnant water slowly dripped from moss-shrouded ceilings, pooling in the cracks between the slick stone walkways. The only sounds were the echoes of my footsteps and the never-ending plop, plop, plop of dripping water.

Charlotte
There was only one rule: don’t open the door. Charlotte's nursery was in the room furthest from the door: up many stairs and down a long hall. There, she spent her early days keeping her nurses busy, filling diapers, throwing toys, screaming, and biting. But no number of stairs, length of halls, or thickness of doors could keep the music from reaching her ears. Fortunately, infants don't know what a door is, much less how to open one.

Invaded
There was only one rule: don’t open the door. Now here Nicki was, trying to open said black door with a large keyhole, in sharp contrast to the rest of the white house. Harsh footsteps and loud clashes continued behind her, evidence that the robbers were still in the house.

The Angelic Beast. Content Warning.
There was only one rule: don’t open the door. The words blared through Shawna’s mind as she watched an all-white, angelic being become covered in dark red blood as it feasted on her husband. Hiding behind the pantry door, she couldn’t look away as she saw her husband slowly dying in torment.

On a Wing and a Prayer. Content Warning.
I started writing this as an entry into the SpookyMicro Challenge but soon surpassed the 300-word limit. I don't feel as though I can do it much justice if I slice and dice it down to qualify, though I might yet give it a go. So, here it is, in its original glory.
